Uncanny! Christian Bale and Amy Adams transform into Dick Cheney and wife Lynne as they're pictured on set of biopic

Christian Bale and Amy Adams are transformed into Dick Cheney and his wife Lynne for the upcoming biopic about the former US Vice President.

The actors were seen back on set in Sylmar, California on Thursday wearing 1970s garb as they chatted with production crew in-between scenes.

Bale, 43, showed off his weight gain in a beige and green checked shirt and was clean shaven apart from thick sideburns making him look almost identical to the Nebraska-born politician.

Playing Cheney's loyal wife, Adams, 43, wore a patterned blouse tucked into a long denim skirt.

The Oscar-nominated actress wore a blonde wig curled under and with her bangs pinned to one side.

Bale has once again has put his body through quite a transformation as he piled on the pounds for this role.

He famously slimmed down to just 120 pounds for his role in 2004's The Machinist, and gained weight for his 2013 role as a conman in American Hustle.

Speaking about his latest weight gain, the British star hinted he's been having a lot of fun bulking up for the Cheney role. 'I’ve just been eating a lot of pies,' he told Variety earlier this month.

Also spotted on Thursday was actress Alison Pill making her debut as Cheney's daughter Mary.

The 31-year-old star was pictured filming emotional scenes dressed down in a crisp Oxford shirt tucked into jeans while slicking back her hair to best imitate the political activist, 48.

Filming: The untitled movie is described as the story of Dick Cheney, 'the most powerful Vice President in history, and how his policies changed the world as we know it.'

With cameras surrounding her for the film, which does not yet have a release date and started production last month, the tearful star was replicating her subject's look with her blonde hair scraped back at the sides with a quiff on top.

Her ill-fitting jeans were held up by a thick brown belt which was complemented with a rucksack and her brown boat shoes.

Alison's make-up was made to look as though she was bare-faced, while she was seen looking notably distressed with her face contorted in sadness.
