M. Night Shyamalan Hard At Work On New Supernatural Thriller

M. Night Shyamalan is back in a big way, well, actually, a small way.

Going from mega summer blockbusters to low budget indies, Shyamalan will see the release of his The Visit through Universal September 11, 2015

And even though that movie doesn’t release until later in the year, the director behind The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and The Village is already halfway through his next Supernatural thriller.

“So odd writing a film before the previous one hasn’t come out,” he tweeted. “#TheVisit comes out in Sept, and I’m 75pgs into a new small scary thriller.

“It’s so scary to write,” he added, “To sit down and try to hear characters. With all the insecurities of your life screaming louder than them at first.”

He also talks a bit about The Visit, which “focuses on a brother and sister who are sent to their grandparents’ remote Pennsylvania farm for a week long trip. Once the children discover that the elderly couple is involved in something deeply disturbing, they see their chances of getting back home are growing smaller every day.

“I keep thinking about the comedy in #TheVisit,” he continues. “Will people dig it? Should I put more or less in this one? Already I’m screwed.”

In addition to Kathryn Hahn and Ed Oxenbould, The Visit also stars Erica Lynne Marszalek, Peter McRobbie, Olivia DeJonge, Deanna Dunagan, Benjamin Kanes, Jon Douglas Rainey, Brian Gildea, Shawn Gonzalez, Richard Barlow, Steve Annan, and Michael Mariano.

‘Already I’m screwed’ – Wow humility from Shyamalan, never thought we’d see the day. Maybe that fear will focus him, or…probably not.

‘So odd writing a film before the previous one hasn’t come out’ – wouldn’t it be ‘has come out’? He is already screwed.

  • M. Night Shyamalan’s track record isn’t great. As well, The misses were real stinkers. I’m always interested in what he’s up to, but…

  • To me, Shymalan’s only decent movie was ‘Devil’. I think it was a good movie that had some good tension and symbolism. ‘The Sixth Sense’ is WAY overrated, and ‘Signs’ is terrible and has the worst ending arguably ever in horror movies. So these ‘advanced’ aliens are killed with water? And they came to a planet where 70+% of the surface is covered in water? Ummm, GET REAL.

The only M Night Shymalamamadingdong movies I really liked were Devil, Signs, & The Sixth Sense. I don’t know about this one. My exceptions are low right now for this one.

please Night, makes this right.. I really like your 6th sense, Unbreakable, the signs… but seeing Smith’s movie flop at the box office makes everything unforgivable lol…
