'He does it so they understand him!' Jess Wright defends brother Mark's 'American twang' as she insists he is trying to cater for a US and UK audience in new presenting role

He came under fire earlier in the week for acquiring an American twang.

Yet Mark Wright's sister Jess has jumped to his defence as she insists her brother is 'putting on' the voice to help audiences understand him, after he launched his stateside presenting job on US show Extra.

The 32-year-old TOWIE star hit out at his critics, as she told The Sun he is trying to ensure he can be understood by his audience, despite his admission that he is taking elocution lessons in Los Angeles to 'neutralise' his thick Essex accent.

Mark left his British fanbase disappointed as he debuted an 'American twang' after posting a teaser on Instagram for his upcoming interview with actor Liam Neeson.

The former TOWIE star, 30, couldn't contain his excitement as he talked fashion and action movies with the Irish star - however viewers of the short clip were left 'cringing' over the change in his accent.

Jess was speedy in defending her younger brother, undoubtedly due to the phenomenally close bond the Wrights pride themselves on.

She told the publication: 'I think he has got to cater for the English and the Americans so I guess he has to put on a bit of a twang.

Be seen in green like Jessica in a jumpsuit from Zara

Christmas isn't as far away as you might think.

One thing we've learnt from years of shopping right up to the 24th December is that if you spot the perfect party season outfit early on, you shouldn't even think twice about buying it. And we've got to say the rich green hue of Jessica Wright's jumpsuit is spot on!

We love the flattering wide leg shape and wrap over style of this all-in-one, which is from none other than Zara. The pleats on the trousers and buttons on the cuffs are nice little touches too! When teamed with a Gucci bag, the TOWIE star looked flawless when she attended a hotel launch in London last night.

'I don't think he's doing it for effect, I think he's genuinely doing it so when American people watch it they understand him. We're really proud of him and he's doing really well over there.'

It's been a whirlwind few weeks for Mark who has landed himself a coveted reporting role on US entertainment show Extra - proving his career is going from strength-to-strength.

And Mark has been interviewing the biggest names in Hollywood while covering the devastation following the Las Vegas Massacre that claimed the lives of 59 people and injured over 500 people.

And while it seems like the former reality star has adjusted well after being thrown into the deep end, his fans didn't seem too pleased about the new lilt in his sound.

Mark couldn't contain his enthusiasm as he bonded with Liam Neeson, 65, over skinny jeans, before the star confirmed to him that he was set to do another action movie next year.

This comes after Mark admitted to his co-host Mario Lopez that he had hired a voice coach in order to tone down his 'regional' accent, and help his US audience understand him.

He admitted he was using a voice coach to tone down his signature accent, and stop him from using certain words popular in his Essex stomping ground, such as 'bruv' and 'grub'.

He said on the first episode of his new show in Septmber: 'It's just to neutralise my accent.

'I speak quite regional, so if I was going to invite you to the pub this is how I would usually do it to my friends. I'd say 'What's happenin' bruv? You wanna go down the pub for a pint and a bit of grub?'
