Ewan McGregor escaped his marriage troubles by enjoying a fish and chips dinner with a mystery woman in the Scottish Highlands.

The Hollywood star showed no signs of stress over the rumoured end of his 22-year-old marriage to Eve Mavrakis, said a chef who served him.

The A-lister was seated at a discreet corner table at the remote Old Library Lodge in Arisaig and enjoyed his meal chatting quietly to his companion.

He ordered a carrot and coriander soup for both himself and his friend and then the fish and chips while she ordered a salmon dish.

Chef Kyle Woolfenden told MailOnline: 'There was nothing untoward about any of it.

'As soon as he booked we gave him table four in the corner which meant he had less chance of being bothered.

'In fact apart from the staff, nobody knew he had been in until he left. He was here for maybe an hour to an hour-and-a-half.

'We have no idea who the woman he was with is. But he was on his motorbike and was taking the ferry to Skye, that much I know.'

The sighting came as a fan gushed over seeing the star for the first time since rumours of his marriage split emerged as he biked around the Highlands.

Elizabeth Murphy wrote: 'Chance meeting with Ewan Mcgregor . What a gent!', alongside a photo of her friend with the star. 

McGregor is fond of riding motor bikes around the Highlands and is believed to store them in several places at spots he can collect them and ride them around Scotland's beauty spots.

The Old Library is a 200 year old stone built stable that has been converted into a hotel with six rooms and the restaurant favoured by the Hollywood star. 

It comes as the Star Wars is reportedly 'living apart' from Mavrakis, with whom he has four children.

McGregor, 46, separated from French production designer Eve, 51, in May, months before pictures of the actor 'kissing' Fargo co-star Winstead in a London restaurant emerged, People reported. 

On Sunday Mavrakis was pictured not wearing a wedding ring as she hiked in the Santa Monica Mountains.

The image was captured just a day before Ewan's Eve was spotted running errands in Santa Monica, California, on Sunday - though the 51-year-old made no effort to hide her ring-free wedding finger.

She met McGregor on the set of court drama Kavanagh QC in 1995, shortly before the Scottish star's portrayal of heroin addict Mark Renton in Danny Boyle's Trainspotting won him international acclaim.  

Rumours of the marriage split emerged after McGregor was pictured apparently kissing co-star Wanstead in images obtained by The Sun. 

The pair, who filmed a racy nude love scene in a bath for their on-screen romance in the most recent series of the show, were reportedly seen getting close during a meeting at The Good Life Eatery in London's St. John's Wood.

The father-of-four closed his eyes as he leaned in to share the intimate moment with Mary, 32, as sources told the publication they were 'relaxed in each other's company'. 

Ewan smiled as Mary, who plays his sexy love interest Nikki Swango in the FX Network crime drama, took his face in both of her hands before going in for a kiss.  

Sources revealed the father of four daughters didn't seem too worried about privacy as they dined together on the busy high street.

Onlookers told The Sun: 'Ewan and Mary Elizabeth were there together and seemed relaxed in each other's company. The cafe was really busy with people coming in and out the whole time...

'They were deep in conversation and were there together for more than an hour. As they left he got on to the back of Ewan's motorbike and they sped off together'. 

Ewan and Mary's sighting comes four months after Mary split from her husband of seven years, Riley Stearns.

Sharing a photo of her kissing her Texan film director ex on the cheek on Instagram in May, the actress wrote in the caption: 'We've decided to move on from our marriage, but we will stay best friends and collaborators for all our days.'

'We are still ride or die, just in a different way now. I love you always, Riley.' 

'Sitting here with my best friend who I love with all my heart. We have spent our lives together and it has been full of joy and warmth every day.'

Meanwhile, Riley, who Mary met aged 18 on an ocean cruise, shared the same photo on his Instagram with an equally touching tribute which said: 'I'll always love you, Mary.'
