A wildlife ranger in North Queensland has filmed the terrifying moment a giant freshwater crocodile launches out of shallow water.
The video shows the barefoot ranger testing a tiny pool with a stick before baiting the hidden crocodile with meat.
In an instant, the huge reptile can be seen jumping out of the water towards the man, who calmly moves out of the way.

The terrifying footage was uploaded to 'give an indication of not only the size of them [crocodiles], but also how easily they can hide in shallow water'.
'Unfortunately for tourists or people who have moved to this region, they think they know better until they get taken for a swimming lesson by a croc [sic],' the caption read.
With several onlookers behind a fence, the ranger explains that while the huge beast appears tame, it was still a wild animal.
