'You can look at me, but you can't have me': Katie Price hints she went into glamour modelling as a 'rebellion' against the sexual abuse in her youth

She has previously spoken about her experience with sexual abuse, having been assaulted as a child and then raped as a young woman.

And Katie Price has now hinted that her career in glamour modelling was a coping mechanism for these traumas.

Speaking on the new episode of John Bishop: In Conversation With..., the 39-year-old speculated whether her interest in the industry was a type of 'rebellion' against the men who abused her - as if to say, 'you can look at me, but you can't have me.'

Speaking on the W show, which airs on Thursday, the TV personality wondered to the comedian whether her abusive past had something to do with her famous career.

She said to John: 'Sometimes I think, did I do the glamour modelling - I don't know if this is true but this is what I say - as a sign of yeah, men, you can look at me but you can't have me.

'As if it's a rebellious...,' she trailed off, before adding: 'But I don't know.'

Strong: However she admitted she did not need therapy for the abuse, adding: 'I think because I've got a strong family and I'm quite open and talk about things that we just all dealt with it'

Despite suffering the abuse at such young ages, with the assault taking place aged 7 and the rape in her teens, Katie affirmed that she did not need therapy - thanks to her rock solid family unit.

She continued: 'I think because I've got a strong family and I'm quite open and talk about things that we just all dealt with it.

'Not everyone's like that, and don't get me wrong, people get affected by things, but that's why I wonder if that's why I like to do in the glamour modelling as a, you know, up yours to you men,' before again, adding: 'But I don't know, maybe.'
