This comes after an attendee standing next to the stage at Wembley before Gemma went on to present a television award has claimed she was indeed briefed by a producer about safety issues beforehand.

The source told MailOnline: 'Before Gemma went on the female producer told her there was a trap door in the middle of the stage.

'The [producer] told Gemma to stay to the left. It’s not true that Gemma wasn’t warned about it.'.

This comes as Gemma immediately took to her Instagram to record a video about what had happened, insisting she was okay but that 'no-one told me not to move right'.

On these grounds, she has suggested she will sue the corporation for the incident.

However, the BBC have told MailOnline: 'The BBC takes the health and safety of everyone involved very seriously and we are awaiting a full report from Remedy - the production company who made the show - about the incident. But they have told us that Gemma did receive a full briefing before going on stage.'

Ouch: The 36-year-old TOWIE star recently revealed plans to launch legal action against the BBC after she fell through the stage at the Radio 1 Teen Awards

36-year-old TOWIE star Gemma has claimed she hasn't received an apology from the BBC after she stunned the 12,000-strong crowd when she disappeared from the stage after falling through a hole on Sunday evening.

She has claimed she thought she was 'going to die' and footage of the incident at London's Wembley Arena has gone viral.

She told The Sun: 'I'm in total shock. It is a miracle I am living to tell the tale. I could have died or at least been disabled at the end of it. I could have been legless.

'I didn't even know there was a hole there. No joke, my life did flash before my eyes. I thought I was dead.'

She added: 'I've got to consult a lawyer, yeah. The BBC, they've not been in touch with any compensation or anything - or even an apology.'

A doctor examined Gemma after the fall and warned her that her injuries could get worse.

A Radio 1 spokesman told MailOnline immediately after the incident: 'We're glad Gemma is OK and she is a proper trooper.'
