'Caesars Palace had Mariah Carey, Planet Hollywood has Britney Spears, and we want Adele. Even at half a million bucks a show we are confident we would make a healthy return.'

The source added that they are not concerned by Adele's health, after pulling out of several shows on her last tour due to vocal chord damage.

They said : 'Adele is a professional, and knows her own ability. And we are happy to be flexible in negotiations if it's needed in order to bring her on board.' A representative for Adele has been contacted for comment.

Should she say yes, Adele would be the latest in a long line of superstars to perform in Vegas, with appropriately hefty paychecks.

Currently the highest paid Vegas resident is Celine Dion, earning an estimated £ £363,521 ($476,000) per show, in her second residency for Caesar's Palace after first debuting at the venue in 2011.

Celine requested to return to Caesar's Palace for a second run of shows, with her current leg set to end in January 2018. Country artist Garth Brooke was paid £76m ($100m) for a residency at The Wynn in 2009, after being convinced to come out of retirement for the shows.

The stint was set to last three years, though Garth finished his residency early to take care of his family.
