A man was shot in the chest outside a Mississippi venue following a Jason Aldean concert that was held just 26 days after the Las Vegas massacre.

The shooting took place in the parking lot of BancorpSouth Arena in Tupelo Friday night after the show had ended, according to local police.

Names of the victim and suspect arrested have not have not yet been released, while authorities believe a dispute broke out between the individuals prior that was unrelated to the concert.

The night prior, country star Aldean performed in New Orleans, Louisiana - which marked his first outdoor concert since the tragic October 1st shooting that left 58 dead and 546 injured.

The concert, which was part of the singer's 'They Don't Know' tour, took place at Champions Square amphitheater and was sold out.

Officials at Champions square formerly planned for strict security after speaking with hotel administrators at the nearby Hyatt and as well as Benson Tower, according to WWLTV.

Concert-goer, Charlene Blades, told the newspaper he planned to be watchful of his surroundings while heading into the concert venue.

However, he said: 'I feel like security right now is better than ever... I know they're extra cautious.'

Some fans in attendance to the show on Thursday night said safety was their last thought.

'New Orleans is always good with their security. I'm not worried,' one attendee said.

Other star-struck fans were much too excited to see the 'Lights Come On' crooner's performance.

'I think it's the people, the environment. There's nothing like country fans,' Sky Hansen and Hailee Harris added.
