'I've been gay since I was born': Boy George reveals the REAL reason he hung up on ABC radio host Fran Kelly after tense interview

On Monday, Boy George dramatically hung up on ABC Radio National host Fran Kelly mid-interview.

And speaking on KIIS FM's Kyle and Jackie O Show on Wednesday about the incident, the 56-year-old revealed the real reason for ending the chat.

The Culture Club singer denied Fran's use of the term 'gender-bending' and her probing on his sexuality were behind the hang up.

His anger came after Fran asked: 'I don't remember if you were openly gay back then but, like David Bowie, you were certainly celebrated for being "gender-bending."

At the time, George simply replied: 'You're boring me, goodbye.'

George told Kyle and Jackie O that it wasn't the subject matter, but rather the interviewers tone and tense that drew his ire.

'She started talking to me like I didn't exist,' he explained, noting that the reporter almost exclusively referred to his accomplishments in the past tense.

'She was like "when you WERE interesting, when you WERE a gender-bender... (and she also asked) don't know if you WERE gay back then."'

George quipped: 'And I was like (internally) "I've always been gay though! I've been gay since I was born!"'

Co-host Jackie O Henderson then asked if abruptly ending interviews was something The Voice judge was partial to.

'As a rule I don't like to do that,' he replied.'But it's quite late here (doing interviews via phone from UK) but if someone doesn't like me (then what's the point).'

Still hung-up on one of her comments, he opined: 'I don't know whether you USED TO be gay? Really?'
