'I think I would struggle, but everyone has their own approach': Australian Victoria's Secret newcomer Victoria Lee speaks about Adriana Lima's nine-day liquid-only diet ahead of the high-profile fashion show

Victoria's Secret Angel Adriana Lima once spoke about her strict and grueling nine-day liquid-only diet ahead of the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

But Australian model Victoria Lee, 25, won't be going to such extreme measures as she prepares to walk the runway for the lingerie giant in Shanghai this month.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, blonde beauty Victoria said she would struggle with such a restricted diet, but insisted 'everyone has their own approach'.

'Everyone has their own approach. It's not what I do,' she said. 'Because I need energy to maintain my training.

'I don't think I would do that, I think I would struggle!' she added with a laugh.

However she added that the girls approach training like they're an 'athlete'.

Victoria said she tries to maintain a balanced approach to diet and exercise, and has upped the intensity of her workouts.

She said she eats lots of protein and tries to limit her sugar intake, but if she's craving chocolate, she'll have a few pieces.

'I wanted to have a balanced approach and didn't want to do anything I can't maintain. I wanted to make it a lifestyle that was sustainable,' Victoria said about her preparation for the show this month.

Several years ago Adriana told The Telegraph that she stuck to a liquids-only diet for nine days in the run up to the show, and drank around four litres of water a day.

But in the final stretch, for 12 hours before the show, she stayed away from liquids altogether, explaining to the newspaper: 'No liquids at all so you dry out, sometimes you can lose up to eight pounds [3.6kg] just from that.'

She also did months of training and would work out twice a day before the show.

However in November 2011, she told E! Canada that her comments were a 'misunderstanding'.

Strict: Adriana previously said she has a liquids-only diet for nine days in the run up to a Victoria's Secret show, and drinks around four litres of water a day.

She also urged impressionable young girls to ignore her stringent preparations.

'Those teenagers out there, don't go starving yourself or only drinking liquids... Don't do that please.'

Instead, she made a show of flashing her coffee and cake: 'I have my Starbucks coffee right there,' and said her intense diet comments were 'a misunderstanding.'

Speaking up: In November 2011, she told E! Canada her comments were 'a misunderstanding'

'It's not that I do crazy diets throughout the year. I just do it for this particular thing. After this show, I become normal again!' she told the Canadian network.

'I know it's very intense but... I just have an athlete's mind and I appreciate doing this thing.'

At the time, she said she went easier with her workouts to not be as 'muscular'.
