Doctor Who SPOILER: Peter Capaldi meets David Bradley as the Twelfth Doctor comes face-to-face with his first incarnation in Christmas preview

Doctor Who fans were treated to a sneak peek of the Christmas special on Children In Need on Friday night. 

The much-anticipated preview of Twice Upon A Time saw the twelfth Doctor Who, played by Peter Capaldi, 59, faced with his first incarnation, played by David Bradley, 75 (originally potrayed by William Hartnell).

The teaser clip sees both characters attempting to ward off impending regenerations, as they face an awkward encounter in the minimalist but sizable TARDIS.

The Twelfth Doctor is see entering the TARDIS alongide his first incarnation, and World War I pilot (Mark Gatiss). But unimpressed by the tardis, David spits: 'This is hideous!'.

And Peter is in agreement, throwing up his hands in horror as he exclaims: 'Have we been robbed? What is this place?'.

'This place is my TARDIS,' David admits, embarrassed.

And the pilot is equally astounded, questioning: 'Am I going mad?'

'You're an officer for WW1 at the south pole being pursued by an alien through the arctic,' the doctor snipes back.

And the doctors suddenly realise they are staring each other in the face.  

'You are me?' David asks Peter in horror as the soldier watches on.

'I assumed I'd get younger,' he adds in horror. 'I am younger!' Peter hits back, completing the much-anticipated teaser clip.

Speaking about the choice of first doctor, Steven Moffat recently admitted of his him: 'David Bradley is such a good swap for William Hartnell.

'He looks so like him, and can so capture that part. We could actually have, in effect, William Hartnell returning to Doctor Who – and witness to his great horror what he has become.'

Talking about the Christmas special, which will see a third doctor thrown into the mix when it ends with Capaldi regenerating into Jodie Whitaker- a female doctor for 2018, Moffatt admitted it would be a rollercoaster episode. 

'The one thing I have to say is, it's Christmas Day, we're gonna keep it funny, and we're gonna keep it lively, as well as sad,' he promised.

'If we cry, [the audience] won't. We want them to cry. So Doctor Who will laugh bravely into that good night.'
