Zimbabwe's influential National Liberation War Veterans Association called for an anti-Mugabe rally on Saturday and said the 'game was up' for the veteran leader and his wife. The demonstration has since been given the green light by police - another example of the growing freedoms Zimbabweans have been enjoying since Mugabe's house arrest began. It comes amid reports the 93-year-old is refusing to resign and has issued a series of demands to ensure a dignified end to his brutal 37-year grip on the country - with conditions including immunity from prosecution and safe passage for his family. Today, footage showed the dictator appearing to fall asleep as he attended a university graduation ceremony on the outskirts of the capital Harare today.

Remarkable hermit woman who has survived 73 years in the Siberian forest could be forced to live in 'civilisation' by Putin governor
Agafya Lykova, 73,(pictured top left and right) is the last survivor of a devout family who opted out of Stalin's repressions in 1936 and fled into the Siberian forests where they existed undetected for more than 40 years. Her mother died long ago in a winter of extreme cold when they were forced to eat their leather shoes to survive. The other members of her family perished soon after a Soviet team was sent to find them in 1978 - but she remains all alone in remote and mountainous taiga in Russia's Khakassia republic, where she is some 120 miles from the nearest town. They also show protests (top right) calling for independence from colonialist rule as the 20th century progressed before a bloody liberation war started in 1972, led by Mugabe. The dictator, now 93 and having been in effective control of Zimbabwe since 1980, is facing an uncertain future after he was placed under house arrest and put under pressure to end his 37-year rule. Under his leadership, the country's mining and tourism-driven economy has been laid to waste.
