Tobey Maguire opted for a low-key look as he enjoyed dinner with a mystery brunette on Tuesday.

The 42-year-old actor seemed in good spirits as he left TAO restaurant in Hollywood with the pretty female companion at his side.

Donning all-black, the star appeared to come over a bit shy as he made his way home after the meal with his baseball cap pulled down low.

Sartorially in sync, Tobey's pretty pal also opted for all-black, teaming a plain vest with skinny jeans and platform trainers that bore a chunky white sole.

She accessorised with a small gold handbag, whilst her glossy chestnut locks were worn in loose waves.

The pair seemed in good spirits as they headed home after the meal.

This October marks a year since Tobey announced he was splitting from his wife of nine years, Jennifer Meyer.

The couple began dating in 2003 and wed in 2007, vowing to stay friends after their split and revealing they would be co-parenting their children, Ruby, 11, and Otis, eight.

'After much soul searching and consideration we have made the decision to separate as a couple,' the pair said in a statement to People at the time.

They added: 'As devoted parents, our first priority remains raising our children together with enduring love, respect and friendship.'

Jennifer is the daughter of movie mogul Ron Meyer, 72, and works as a jewellery designer.

She previously revealed that Tobey inspired her to launch her own business, recalling: 'He used a Star Wars quote — "There is no try, only do" — and that got me.'
