Julia Stiles has welcomed her first child with husband Preston J. Cook.

The 10 Things I Hate About You star, 36, announced on Wednesday that she gave birth to a baby boy last month, who they have called Strummer Newcomb Cook.

The new mother made the announcement by sharing an adorable picture of the little one's tiny hand gripping his dad's thumb.

Captioning the snap, Julia wrote: 'Strummer Newcomb Cook, born October 20, 2017.

'Thanks and ever thanks to the extraordinary Doctors, Nurses and staff at Mount Sinai for helping bring this utter joy into our lives. "Hello, World!" (sic)'

Julia and Preston - who got engaged on Christmas Eve in 2015 - announced the pregnancy earlier this year.

We love a good rock n roll celebrity baby name, and Julia Stiles certainly didn't let us down with little Strummer Newcomb Cook.

Her happy news is also the perfect excuse for us to look back at some of Julia's style highs, including this beautiful embroidered dress, which the 10 Things I Hate About You actress wore to the BAFTAs earlier this year.

The pair met in 2015 on the set of Go With Me, where Preston was working as a cameraman.

Revealing their romance in July of that year, when asked what the best kiss of her life was, Julia admitted: 'It might have happened this morning. I am dating a camera assistant I met at work called Preston.'

Preston decided to get down on one knee when the pair were holidaying in Isla Grande, Colombia.

Speaking about the trip, Julia said at the time: 'That's where we got engaged. All around, it was a really wonderful trip.

'We stayed on an island that was really beautiful and there was a lot of great snorkeling. The city was really nice, too, but because I live in the city the natural scenery was really great.'

The couple tied the knot in September just weeks before they welcomed their first child together.

They revealed they had married in a sweet snap, shot on a Seattle beach, that showed Preston's newly-ringed left hand, caressing his new wife's pregnant belly, while the wedding dress-clad Julia did the same.

'Who doesn't love a shotgun wedding?' she joked in the caption.
