New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard mocked President Donald Trump after he tweeted about rejecting the honor of being TIME Magazine's 'Person of the Year'.
Trump claimed on Twitter on Friday that he had taken himself out of consideration after he refused to meet the magazine's 'requirements' for an interview and photo shoot without being guaranteed the title.
'Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named "Man (Person) of the Year", like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!' he wrote.

Syndergaaad used the media storm that ensued afterwards to jokingly say that he denied Sports Illustrated's request to be 'Sportsman of the Year'
Time itself commented on the president's tweet to say that he was incorrect about their editorial process
His tweet created a media storm and instantly became a meme with several people copying the theme, but adjusting it to other topics.
Syndergaaard used the opportunity to get in on the action, jokingly saying that he denied Sports Illustrated's request to be 'Sportsman of the Year'.
'Sports Illustrated called and said I was probably going to be Sportsman of the Year, but it was going to take a long photo shoot and interview. I'm not proud of my recent perm and have a interpretive dance class at the interview time so I turned it down! No Thanks SI!!' he wrote early Saturday.
Syndergaard isn't the only celebrity to take a shot a Trump. Several other celebrities poked fun at the commander-in-chief including tennis star Andy Murray, actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus and actor Mark Hamill

TIME itself commented on the president's tweet to say that he was incorrect about their editorial process.
'The President is incorrect about how we choose Person of the Year. TIME does not comment on our choice until publication, which is December 6,' the magazine wrote on Friday.

However, the magazine was back in his good graces when he appeared on the cover in August 2015 and when he was named 'Person of the Year' in 2016
'I knew last year that @TIME Magazine lost all credibility when they didn't include me in their Top 100...' Trump tweeted in October 2012.
In April 2013, he made similar comment, tweeting: 'The Time Magazine list of the 100 Most Influential People is a joke and stunt of a magazine that will, like Newsweek, soon be dead. Bad list!,' he tweeted. (Trump didn't make the list. This fact should not stun you.)
However, the magazine was back in his good graces when he appeared on the cover in August 2015 and when he was named 'Person of the Year' in 2016.
