And Sarah Hyland was spoiled rotten by new boyfriend Wells Adams as she celebrated her 27th birthday on Friday.

The Modern Family star was whisked off to Santa Catalina Island off the coast of California via helicopter by her reality TV personality beau, 33.

Posting a video of the couple on her Instagram stories, Sarah wrote: 'This one. (@wellsadams) SURPRISED ME with a helicopter ride to Catalina to celebrate my birthday early and.... I can't. I'm all gushy.'

The loved-up pair posed for snaps in the aircraft, smiling as they wore the requisite headsets and seat belts.

A caption read: 'The cutest ever,' with neon pink arrows pointing to Wells' face.

The actress popped another helicopter-borne selfie post onto her Instagram Story, with a caption that read: 'One two one two'.

Wells also presented his girlfriend with a chocolate birthday cake, which was decorated on top with sprinkles, nuts and strawberries.

There were also a couple of white chocolate strips that had been frosted to read: 'Happy Birthday Sarah'

Sarah posted an image of the cake to her Story and wrote: 'He's the best.'

Before his relationship with Sarah, Wells vied unsuccessfully for Joelle 'JoJo' Fletcher's hand on The Bachelorette.

JoJo chose Aaron Rodgers' brother Jordan, who is still her fiancé.

Sarah recently revealed she was just as nervous to introduce the Californian hunk to her real family as her second televised family on Modern Family

'I think the more stressful thing is to meet the second family, which is not only the Dunphy family but the entire cast, and the entire crew and all of our writers, and everybody that's involved,' Sarah told ET.

'That's the second family that I think is the most terrifying thing for guys that I date!'

Fans first speculated they were a couple when they spent Halloween together, dressing up in Stranger Things costumes.

The couple confirmed they were dating by posting a sweet Instagram snap earlier this month, with Wells revealing they met via the medium of social media.

The romance comes after Sarah split with Shadowhunters actor Dominic Sherwood in August after two years together.
