She admitted she has an ongoing battle with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after her bitter ex-boyfriend targeted her in a horrific acid attack in 2008.

But Katie Piper didn't let the struggle get the better of her as she couldn't contain her excitement for her new arrival outside the BBC Radio Studios in London on Saturday.

Two weeks away from her due date, the 34-year-old pregnant star embraced her maternal instincts as she cradled her huge baby bump in her chic floral dress.

Katie is living her happy ever after as she lives at home with her husband of two years Richard Sutton and their three-year-old daughter Belle.

The lovebirds recently celebrated their two year wedding anniversary, earlier this month.

Gushing about her wedding at the time, she told MailOnline: 'Second only to the birth of our daughter, marrying Richie has been one of the best days of my life and I am so happy to have shared it with my close friends and family.'

In her latest candid interview, Katie discussed how she has learnt to live with her ongoing post-traumatic stress disorder by identifying triggers.

The gorgeous blonde was  left scarred and blind in one eye, after her ex-boyfriend arranged for an accomplice to throw sulphuric acid in her face in 2008.

Now the philanthropist revealed to Women's Health magazine how she felt 'isolated' to the point she was so terrified to leave her parents' home.

Pregnant Katie, who is set to tour with her live show What's In My Head next spring, told the publication: 'When my post-traumatic stress disorder was at its height, I was so isolated I didn’t want to leave my parents’ house.

'It took my mum dropping me off at church to help me get what I needed at that time: connection with others, free from judgement. I’d found my safe space – but it will be different for everyone.

'Nine years on, I am so much more than what happened to me. I’m a mother and a businesswoman; I run a charity that supports others overcoming adversity; and, most importantly, I’m happy.

'But I want people to understand how difficult a process getting well has been, so that they might look on their own recovery with a little more kindness. I’m not going to tell you: “I had PTSD and anxiety and depression but now everything is great.” People don’t go through traumatic events and just become emotionally strong.

'I still have difficult days when I lose hours to anxiety, feeling my throat swell and my mind race with paranoid thoughts. But – thanks in part to ongoing therapy – they’re happening less and less. Mindset is important – but it’s not realistic to expect people to simply replace "bad" thoughts with good ones.'

Katie then went on to say that taking responsibility for her own recovery is what proved most valuable in her recovery process.

She concluded with some advice for those experiencing similar woes: 'Look for that little pocket of light in the darkness. It could be a supportive person, a mantra, or even the feeling you get when you’re working up a sweat. It’ll be there somewhere – you just have to look for it.’
