She took a musical hiatus after giving birth last year, confessing the first few months of motherhood had been 'hell'.

But Paloma Faith looked happier than ever on Friday as she celebrated topping the album charts at the Royal Variety Performance in London.

The 36-year-old cut a glamorous appearance in a black sparkly dress with a feather trim as she made her way into the venue.

She styled her golden locks in a high ponytail, allowing the statement of the dress to shine.

The songstress showcased her glowing complexion with dramatic eyelashes, winged eyeliner and a bold pink lip.

Just hours earlier, the New York hitmaker discovered she topped the album charts, with her record The Architect.

Dressed in a striped velvet dress and mustard yellow scarf, the blonde beauty posed with the glitzy award backstage at the London Palladium.

Uploading a video to Twitter, the singer told fans: ' Hello everyone, it's been a very emotional day.

'I want to thank all my fans and their families who have been cajoled into buying my record this week.

She continued: 'I'm so elated, I am a bit speechless. It has taken four albums to have my first number one.

'It just goes to show that if you put the work in you will come out on top. Don't give up. Thank you everyone, I love you.'

The mother-of-one took a break away from the spotlight after giving birth to her first child with boyfriend of three years and French hunk Leyman Lahcine last December.  

Paloma recently opened up about her experience of being a mother, confessing pregnancy and motherhood hasn't been plain sailing.

'There’s nothing glamorous, in my opinion, about pregnancy, childbirth and early motherhood. It’s hell, basically,' she said of the experience, according to The Punch.

'Everything went wrong with the pregnancy and the labour, but it’s so worth it.'

Paloma was joined by a host of celebrities for the star-studded celebrations, including Dame Joan Collins.

The 84-year-old looked every inch the Hollywood icon in a plush pink cape and decadent drop earrings. 

In keeping with the colour scheme, the Dynasty star paired her stylish outerwear with a full-length pastel pink dress. 

She completed the look with silky gloves, embellished heels and a cream clutch bag.

Meanwhile, The Duchess of Cambridge wowed on the red carpet in a glittering full-length Jenny Packham gown.

Kate, who is pregnant with her third child, cut an elegant figure as she attended the show with Prince William.

The stylish ensemble skimmed over her barely perceptible baby bump, nipping in at the waist to showcase her enviable physique.
