Julia and Brad fell in love while while attending Northwestern University and their son Charlie, 20, is a student there.
Alongside a scenic photo of the river, the Seinfeld star wrote: 'Happy Thanksgiving early morning in Chicago. I love this town.'
The star has been indulging in family time with her husband and two sons Charlie and Henry since revealing she was diagnosed with breast cancer in September.
Julia is taking some much-deserved time for her health, while work on the final season of Veep is postponed until she completes her treatment.
The show's executive producer Frank Rich explained earlier this month that the cast and crew are busy reading scripts and finalizing jokes as they 'wait for [Julia] to gather her full strength' and return to set.

A brief hiatus: The final season of Veep will be postponed until Julia has completed treatment for breast cancer
'Julia is undergoing treatment for breast cancer,' the show's EP explained on SiriusXM’s Press Pool.
The showrunner continued: 'We’re obviously postponing production of the show — we were supposed to have started now — while she’s in treatment. But the expectation is that we will shoot again.'
Julia — who holds the record for most consecutive Emmy wins for lead actress in a comedy — recently completed her third round of chemotherapy.
Veep is heading into its seventh season, which is slated to be the show's last hurrah.

Bittersweet timing: Julia posted word of her illness on social media in September, just days after winning her sixth Emmy Award for her portrayal of former POTUS Selina Meyer
'We have one more season we’re doing, which we’re incredibly excited about. Rather impressively, while we wait for her to gather her full strength, around her treatment we’ve been having with the cast in Los Angeles, table reads of scripts for the final season as they’re ready,' said Rich.

On September 28, the former Seinfeld star took to Twitter to share a personal note in which she wrote: 'Just when you thought… 1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I'm the one.'
She added: 'The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family, and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let's fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.'
Supporting cast! The star's friends and family have been ultra supportive, sending positive messages and pick-me-ups as she makes her way through treatment
