But Gwyneth Paltrow proved that her new 'fiance' Brad Falchuk is firmly part of her 'modern family' on Sunday, as the couple shared brunch with her ex-husband.

Gwyneth, 48, returned to Instagram for the first time since her reported engagement to post a picture of Chris Martin and her husband-to-be Brad at breakfast.

Letting the picture speak for itself, Gwyneth simply wrote: 'Sunday brunch #modernfamily'

She beautifully captured the two men in her life, as Chris sat his arms folded and sharing a cheesey grin, while Brad looked bashful with his head leaning on his palm.

On the breakfast table, it looked like the duo - both matching in relaxed grey weekend ensembles - had shared chocolate spread.

It's well known that Gwyneth and her ex Chris share a very amicable co-parenting relationship and have previously gone on holiday together and hosted parties for the sake of their two children.

Gwyneth and Chris have one daughter Apple, now 13, and a son Moses, who is 11 years old.

Gwyneth and Brad have been dating quietly for the past three years as they have never walked a red carpet together and rarely appear on each other's social media accounts, which makes the actress's latest post a special one.

First reports of Brad and Gwyneth's engagement broke last week as part of a report by US Weekly.

She's renowned for her chic style and Gwyneth Paltrow lived up to this reputation as she stepped out to the Bumble Bizz event in Hollywood.

The actress and businesswoman was hosting the night, in fact, and she certainly looked like the star of the show in her silky polo-neck, tailored cropped trousers and red stiletto pumps.
