But Armie Hammer has revealed he was perhaps too big for his latest role, as his privates had to be digitally removed from the final cut of Call Me By Your Name.

The strapping 31-year-old boasted about the use of post-production visual effects as he discussed his turn as an American student who has an affair with the teenage son of his university professor in the critically acclaimed gay drama.

He told Sirius XM host Andy Cohen: 'There was a few times where they had to go back and digitally remove my b**ls from the movie.

'They were short shorts. What are you gonna do?'

However it seems he was a bit more embarrassed than it first appeared when he first began to bellow about his numerous wardrobe malfunctions.

For the Lone Ranger icon told the excited interviewer: 'My mom's gonna love this interview.'

However the Man From U.N.C.L.E favourite still found time to joke about what happened to the fruits of his digital castration.

He joked: 'If you look carefully at all the trees, it’s not all peaches.'

And his on-screen lover Timothée Chalamet could not resist getting in on the fun either.

He chimed in: 'They're floating around... those are the Easter eggs.'

Call Me By Your Names began its limited run at four US theatres last week.
