Gurl power! Katy Perry meets Hillary Clinton in Los Angeles and offers to write a theme song if she runs for President

She knows a thing or two about catchy hit music having sold 11 million albums and 81 million singles worldwide.

Now Katy Perry has offered to put her California Gurl power behind Hillary Clinton and write her a theme song - if the ex-Secretary of State runs for President.

The 29-year-old met the politician at a reception at CAA's offices in Century City before Hillary's book signing at Barnes & Noble at The Grove shopping centre in Los Angeles on Thursday.

And the proud pop star shared the moment with her 5.5 million Instagram followers by posting a snap of the two of them together with the message, 'I told @hillaryclinton that I would write her a “theme” song if she needs it.'

She also spread the news on Twitter.

In fact the Ready For Hillary super PAC, which is already raising funds in case the politician makes a White House run, debuted a video in March featuring images of Hillary accompanied by Katy's hit, Roar.

And Hillary underlined this when she later Tweeted to her acolyte, saying: 'Well that’s not a Hard Choice. You already did! Keep letting us hear you Roar.'

The celebrity singer was conservatively dressed for the meeting, choosing a green and black plaid frock and staggeringly high platform sandals that meant she towered over Hillary.

Katy dyed her blue and green hair back to its natural black and pulled it back into a neat bun that she secured with a yellow floral scrunchy.

She left with an autographed copy of Hillary’s book, Hard Choices.

Glee's Chris Colfer later showed up to the book signing. It turns out the 24-year-old has been a fan of Bill Clinton's wife for some time.
