They have been teasing fans all week with flashforward scenes of Mac Nightingale lifeless in The Dog carpark.

But on Wednesday night's show, Hollyoaks revealed his daughter Ellie (Sophie Porley) was behind the vengeful attack.

With so many possible culprits in the frame, viewers were shocked to see Ellie lash out at the evil villain, violently pushing him out of the window.

The Channel 4 soap had kept fans guessing about the true identity of the attacker, with Mac's (David Easter) enemies Hunter McQueen, Sally St Claire and Darren Osborne all being viewed as possible suspects.

Other's speculated Mac's son James was to be the one to seek revenge, after he was violently beaten up by his dad.

However, the revelation that Ellie was behind the attack came as a shock to many, as she had previously given Mac an alibi when he was arrested earlier this week.

Mac’s devilish crime of starting the school explosion, killing Neeta Kaur and attacking Jack Osborne, had gone unpunished, thanks to his loyal daughter providing an alibi.

However, when the stunning brunette finds out Mac’s affair with Lisa Loveday lead to the death of her brother, Nathan,her anger begins to boil.

But it's not until she walks in on her dad beating up her brother James, that she lashes out, pushing him through an upstairs window and into the carpark below.

The camera then pans to Mac lifeless on the floor of the carpark in a blood-spattered shirt with broken glass surrounding him.

The scene echoes his son Nathan death, who died of a similar incident.

Viewers will have to wait to see if the villain survive the treacherous fall and if the family will come together after Mac's true nature has been exposed.
