'Tis the season! Emma Stone and new beau Dave McCary look affectionate as they make a rare outing in NYC on a date to see The Nutcracker

They've been notoriously private with their romance since it first emerged they were dating last month.

But Emma Stone and new boyfriend, SNL writer and director Dave McCary, made a public rare outing in New York City as they enjoyed a showing of The Nutcracker at the David H. Koch Theater on Tuesday evening.

The couple looked happy and relaxed as they strolled through Manhattan alongside Dave's SNL co-writer Kyle Mooney, stopping for an affectionate moment as Dave wrapped his arm around his girlfriend outside the theater.

Emma, 29, did her best to go under the radar by covering her face with a black baseball cap as she gazed into her new beau's eyes.

The Oscar-winning actress wrapped up against the winter chill in a charcoal grey wool coat from FRAME, teamed with a white shirt dress and black PVC shoe boots.

The La La Land star accessorized with a tan leather satchel bag and went make-up free to showcase her naturally striking looks.

Dave, 32, looked casual for the couple's date, teaming jeans and sneakers with a bomber jacket and sweater.

The new couple have only been seen together in public once when they were pictured out in New York celebrating Emma's 29th birthday earlier this month.

A source has claimed the writer and director is a 'perfect match' for the talented actress.

An insider told People this month: 'Dave has this core of kindness and sweetness. He's tall and fit, confident and funny. He's not someone who seeks the spotlight.'

Page Six was first to report that the duo were enjoying a romance in October, which is said to have been going on since the early summer.

Dave has worked at SNL since 2014 and is also the co-founder of the sketch comedy group Good Neighbor along with Mooney, Beck Bennett, and Nick Rutherford.

It's not surprising that Emma and Dave crossed paths, as the actress hosted SNL in December 2016, which saw him direct a sketch called Wells For Boys which she starred in.

The actress also made a guest appearance with Ryan Gosling this season and attended the after-party at hotspot TAO.

It comes hot on the heels of other SNL-linked romances, including Ben Affleck who is in a relationship with one of the show's producers, Lindsey Shookus, and Scarlett Johansson, who is dating Weekend Update's Colin Jost.

Emma dated her The Amazing Spider-Man co-star Andrew Garfield, 34, from 2011 to 2015.

The British actor recently gushed of his ex: 'I'm nothing but supportive and her biggest fan … I love Emma.'

While Emma has said of her former beau : '[He's] someone I still love very much.'

Emma has been hard at work over the past few months filming her forthcoming Netflix series, Maniac, in New York City, alongside co-stars Jonah Hill and Justin Theroux.

Amid a highly-successful year which saw her bag a Best Actress Oscar for her role in La La Land, Emma was named the world's highest-paid actress in August.

With earnings of $26 million in a 12-month period, she usurped her close friend Jennifer Lawrence, 27, from the top spot.
