Chris Hughes has revealed he 'can't remember' what happened after video emerged appearing to show him kissing a mystery woman.

Insisting that 'nothing' untoward would've happened as he would never want to escalate things, the Love Island star, 24, made a statement on Twitter.

After revealing exclusively to MailOnline that things were 'all good' with girlfriend Olivia Attwood, 26, he wrote: 'I was a mess on Saturday night, couldn’t remember an awful lot.'

He continued: 'I put my arms around a stranger which I should never have done, and I still don’t know why but it’s a lesson learnt not to be a drunk t**t.

'All of us do things we shouldn’t one time of another and do stupid s**t, but nothing escalated as it never would.

'Sometimes takes an incident to sharpen up in life. Just being a drunk d**k.'

Olivia didn't seem convinced, however, tweeting then deleting afterwards: 'boys get away with murder'.

Earlier this week Olivia and Chris were hit by split claims after a video emerged appearing to show him kissing a mystery woman, and wrapping his arms around her waist.

In video obtained by The Sun, the hunk can be seen chatting with a pretty brunette in Essex club Sugar Hut before appearing to lean in for a kiss.

He is then seen seemingly being dragged away by a security guard with a source telling the website he was given a warning due to being worse for wear.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline after the incident, Chris revealed: 'We're good. We met earlier and we're all good.'

Despite his claims, Olivia didn't seem taken by the apology, tweeting then deleting 'lol'.

An eagle-eyed follower spotted her response and tweeted: 'If it was her that did it she would get loads of stick but cos it's 'innocent' baby faced chris he gets away with it.

'If my man had his hands round another woman's waist like that I'd be on the warpath. He's not what he makes out he is [sic]'.

Replying to the fan before quickly deleting her response. Olivia tweeted: 'Oh Hun it would be a full blown witch hunt. boys get away with murder'.

Meanwhile, Chris and Olivia's Love Island co-star Kem Cetinay was also keen to dispel split rumours between himself and Amber Davies, as he insisted to MailOnline that 'Everything had got blown out of proportion'.

Asked whether the couple were worried about a Dancing On Ice curse now that he's signed up to the rebooted show, Kem revealed: 'Amber can't wait for for me to go on - she's a dancer herself!'

Kem revealed that Amber and her family would be celebrating Christmas with them as they enjoyed their first festive holiday together.

Meanwhile, Chris said that he would be spending Boxing Day at Olivia's home with her loved ones.
