'I swear by it for every relationship': Ruby Rose admits she goes to couples therapy with girlfriend Jessica Origliasso after that public Twitter spat with Jessica's twin sister Lisa

She recently gushed about being 'so lucky' to find her songstress girlfriend.

But actress Ruby Rose has said things aren't always smooth sailing with partner Jessica Origliasso, particularly as they're constantly doing long distance.

'Every relationship has ups and downs, and great moments, but that's what I love about it,' the Pitch Perfect 3 star told The Kyle and Jackie O show on Friday.

The 31-year-old was asked if she ever picks a fight with Jessica in public, something Kyle admitted he and outspoken girlfriend Imogen Anthony do regularly.

Ruby said that hadn't happened during the course of her year-long relationship with the Veronica's vocalist - and she puts it down to one thing.

'I swear by it with every relationship ever - and that's therapy,' she said.

'I think it's the greatest thing for an individual first. You need to know yourself and heal yourself and love yourself to love someone else.'

She went further to explain her decision by suggesting therapy only seeks to deepen your connection with a significant other.

'We all communicate so differently depending on what we've been through in our lives, and what walls are up... so to do therapy and then just work together you find another level of understanding and appreciation,' she said.

'We're at a point now where we properly know how to communicate long distance which I think has been the hardest thing.'

But while it has been nothing but loving words for her girlfriend Jessica, the same can't be said for her interaction with Lisa Origliasso.

Tension began after Ruby recently claimed Lisa told her she should 'feel lucky' her orientation didn't get her 'stoned to death like they do in other countries'.

Lisa has since told News Corp that's not what she meant.

'This past week I have been accused of making intolerant statements and holding intolerant views,' Lisa said, according to the publication.

'I did not make those statements and I do not hold those views. Sexuality has never played a factor in my acceptance of people or their relationships.

'I have and always will continue to show my unwavering support for the LGBTI community with pride and continue to celebrate love, acceptance and tolerance within our country and community,' she added, before thanking her friends and fans for their support.
