'The most ridiculous thing!' Twitter users blast Kim Kardashian for posing as a 'black' Jackie Kennedy Onassis in magazine shoot
The reality star, 36, posed as Jackie Kennedy for Interview magazine and that was enough to provoke ire from fans of the late First Lady.
And if channeling the beloved icon wasn't enough to spark a backlash, Twitter users also wanted to know why Kim's skin color was a darkened to match that of her daughter North, whose father is rapper Kanye West.
Mistake? Kim Kardashian proudly shared her new photo shoot as Jackie Kennedy Onassis with her social media followers on Monday but the reaction wasn't kind
Not impressed: Twitter users responded to Kim branding her channeling of the iconic former First Lady 'a disgrace', 'ridiculous', and 'a big, bold mistake'
One of those who replied to Kim's original tweet gushing about how special she thinks the photos are pulled no punches.
'This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen,' she tweeted.
'This is a disgrace,' another person wrote.
'You are no Jackie O,' added another.
'Jackie O turning over in her damn grave right now,' another Twitter user chimed in.
Kim posed with her daughter, who's four, for the series of pictures that hark back to the Kennedy White House of the early 1960s.
But social media was quick to wonder why the 36-year-old, who is of Armenian and British/Dutch descent, looked identical in skin color to her bi-racial child.
Huh? Other social media users were confused as to why Kim's skin color appeared to have been darkened to match that of her four-year-old daughter North whose father is Kanye West
Why darker? Twitter users took the reality star and the magazine to task about the skin tone
'Why did they darken her skin to try and make her look black?' one asked.
'@InterviewMag since when @KimKardashian has the same color of the skin of her daughter? asked another Twitter user.
Still others were upset and insulted that the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star who found fame thanks to a sex tape was dubbed 'America's New First Lady' by the magazine.

Kim looked very dark on the cover
When her interviewer - trans rights activist Janet Mock - asks her about raising a 'mixed black girl' Kim commented: 'I'm very conscious of it. Kanye always has his family around and people who look like my daughter—that's important to me.
'She's obsessed with her curly hair, and if she finds someone who has the same hair, she runs to them and is like, 'You have curly hair like me?' And we get to talk about it.'
She added: 'We also talk about it with my niece Penelope, because she and North look really different, but they're best friends and they're together all the time.'
On Monday Kim took to Instagram to talk about her new spread.
'Just wanted to thank @stevenkleinstudio for pushing me to do a shoot that was very different & powerful & allowed me to pay homage to the iconic Jackie Kennedy who I admire & respect!' the star wrote in her caption.
The cover and editorial was shot by Klein.
