'It's what you do when there are children involved': Chris Pratt and Anna Faris 'still going ahead with divorce and are only in counseling for the sake of son Jack'
It was reported last week that Chris Pratt and Anna Faris are in therapy to try to make their relationship work after announcing their decision to split.
But now - dashing fans' hopes of a reconciliation between the actors - more details have emerged about the couples counseling the duo are receiving, suggesting it's only for the sake of their son Jack, five.
'They are going through couples counseling now, which is what you do when you want to divorce and there are children involved,' a source close to the actors told People.
Talking it out: Chris Pratt and Anna Faris - who announced their split earlier this month - are having therapy to work on their relationship, for the sake of their son Jack
'It won’t likely change the status but it could help with their future co-parenting.' they said.
'Their work separations have taken a toll, and it is not likely that the marriage can be repaired enough to work right now,' the insider explained, adding that there is 'still love' between the two stars.
Earlier this month the Hollywood couple shocked fans when they announced they were splitting after eight years together.
'It won’t likely change the status but it could help with their future coparenting.' a source said of the duo's decision to get therapy together
'Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward.' they wrote in their joint statement.
It was reported by Life & Style that the 40-year-old Mom actress and the 38-year-old Jurassic World action were hashing out their issues in couples counseling.
The timing is good as he just completed filming Avengers: Infinity War as well as Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and appears to have time on his hands.
'It’s the first time they’ve ever been in counseling together and it only happened after they split,' an insider revealed.
'They have committed to it. They are trying to keep the pressure low by doing it out of the spotlight, but there is still a lot of love between them.'
'Their work separations have taken a toll': a source told People this week. The trio are seen at LAX in May 2016
Another source said it helps that they are still living in the same Los Angeles house together that they share with Jack.
'It’s been very intense, with Anna discussing how she feels isolated with Chris gone so much of the time and her career taking a backseat,' said the source.
'Chris gets frustrated because Anna is in the industry, too, and knew the commitments involved when she married him.'
On August 6 the actors released a joint statement on social media which read: 'We are sad to announce we are legally separating,
'We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we went to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still love each other and will always cherish our time together.'

Her first comments after the split were made on her Unqualified podcast: 'Hey, dear listeners!' she said. 'I just want to thank you all so much for all the love I've been receiving, and I truly love you.'
Last week Faris went on a podcast where she proved all is not well with the two by saying: 'Life is too short to be in relationships where you feel this isn't fully right or somebody doesn't have your back, or somebody doesn't fully value you.'
The blonde beauty, who wed Pratt in 2009, was not speaking specifically about her relationship with Chris, but rather was giving advice to a caller on the podcast My Favourite Murder.
But her choice of words suggested she was using her own failed romance as an example. Anna continued her heartfelt message: 'Don't be afraid to feel your independence if things aren't right.'
