At 80, Dame Shirley Bassey is still licensed to thrill: Goldfinger singer poses alongside actress Annabelle Wallis at theatre awards

Dame Shirley Bassey is 80 years old, but she had no trouble keeping up with the younger crowd at a prestigious theatre awards party in London on Sunday night.

The Goldfinger singer was in high spirits as she posed for a picture with film star Annabelle Wallis, who dated Coldplay frontman Chris Martin after his divorce from Gwyneth Paltrow.

The Oxfordshire-born blonde, 33, is best known for her role in Peaky Blinders, although her character was killed off in the last series of the hit BBC Twenties gangster drama.

Happily, she was all smiles as she showed off her impressive footwork on the dancefloor in a Stella McCartney black low-cut lace dress, while Dame Shirley looked elegant in a semi-sheer black floral number.

Sandra, 77, recalls: 'I was one away from her at a dinner table and I leaned over to ask if she could give me any tiny grain of advice.

'Know your characters,' she said. 'Live with them. It's all about character.'

'Her husband gives tips in other ways, recently advising Sandra to change her Facebook picture. 'Hubby said it looked smirky — so have changed it again!'

Pregnant classical singer Katherine Jenkins felt compelled to defend her food choices this weekend after posting a seemingly innocuous photo of herself eating fish and chips before a show in Southend, Essex.

The Welsh-born star, 37, who is expecting her second child by husband Andrew Levitas, has proudly called herself a vegetarian since 2008 — which means excluding both meat and fish.

When one woman questioned her seafood meal, Katherine quickly replied: 'Pescetarian! I don't eat meat but I eat fish!'
