He enjoyed a triumphant return to The X Factor final on Saturday evening, when he took to stage to perform his new single Miss You.

And Louis Tomlinson appeared eager to keep the celebrations going later that night, when he and his girlfriend Eleanor Calder made their way to London hot-spot Reign.

However, the 25-year-old singer seemed to have taken his revelry just a tad too far, as he was spotted getting a helping hand from pals and a security team while stumbling out of the nightclub at 3AM the following morning.

Sporting a bright yellow Umbro hoodie and sweat-drenched locks, the One Direction heartthrob struggled to keep his eyes open as he emerged from the warm confines of the dancefloor to the chilly streets of the English capital.

With a burly minder keeping an attentive, guiding hand on him, the star made his way to a waiting chauffeur-driven limo, in which he was whisked back to his hotel.

Louis' stunning girlfriend Eleanor opted to avoid experiencing any such embarrassment in front of cameras, covering her entire face with her fashionable camel coat as she followed closely ahead of her handsome beau.

A source tells MailOnline that the couple's night out proved to be quite the eventful one before things even kicked off, when one of Louis' pals was asked to make a dash back to the limo for his passport to prove his age.

Since embarking on his solo career, Louis has delivered hits such as Just Hold On, a collaboration with Steve Oki that he had memorably performed on The X Factor last year following the passing of his mother Johannah Deakin, and his hit Back To You featuring Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals.

His performance at the X Faactor came just a handful of days after he took to the stage for the Royal Variety Performance, with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge among the audience members attending the high-profile annual event.

Louis' bandmate Liam Payne recently confirmed One Direction will be reuniting following their current hiatus.

The boy band (made up of Louis, Liam, Harry Styles and Niall Horan - Zayn Malik had quit One Direction in March 2015) announced their decision to take a break two years ago, with the boys each going on to embark on their own solo careers.

Liam, however, delighted fans recently when he revealed that the band does have plans to reunite and work on new music in the future.

He assured fans they can expect more from the band, as he confirmed in an interview on Clyde 1: 'Obviously we ARE going to get back together, so it's fine.'
