Tears, blackouts, and a whole lot of booze…. and that’s just the first episode! New show MTV Floribama Shore takes off with a bang

  • The premiere of MTV's newest reality show saw housemates partying, dating and creating drunken mayhem as they spend their summer on the shore
  • MTV Floribama Shore airs every Monday at 10|9c

From drunken dating to beach-side boozing, episode one of MTV Floribama Shore was everything we hoped it would be.

Because we would expect nothing less from the Jersey Shore spin-off than super-tanned, over-the-top, alcohol-fueled mayhem. And that is exactly what we got.

Set in Florida's Panama City Beach, along the shoreline that stretches all the way to Alabama - known as 'Floribama' - MTV's new reality show sees eight 20-somethings spend a summer living and partying together.

Hot mess Kortni Gilson, who is living away from her parents for the first time at the age of 21, sets the tone for the summer's debauchery with her out-of-control behavior.

It's only the first episode and the Panama City Beach local has already passed out drunk, urinated in a bed and a trash can, and jumped under the covers with one of her housemates.

Love her or hate her, this wild child is guaranteed to be entertaining for the next seven weeks.

Blackout: Kortni drunkenly passes out after taking too many shots on the first night - and she then wakes up to urinate in housemate Candace's bed

Still reeling from her divorce, 23-year-old NiIsa is on the hunt for hot guys. But she can't seem to decide between Gus with his perfectly coiffed quiff, and muscle-bound Jeremiah.

Gus takes Nilsa on a painfully awkward date, and we cringe while we watch as his efforts to score a kiss fall flat.

So Nilsa turns her attentions to Jeremiah. But - and you'll need to keep up here - Jeremiah is off on a date with Kortni, and the pair are throwing back shots and sushi at dinner.

Jeremiah's claims of being a southern gentlemen are thrown into question as he insists on splitting the check with his date.

At the same time Gus is complaining that he 'dropped $150' on his dinner with Nilsa without getting anywhere. 'My wallet is hurtin', my heart is hurtin', ' he declares, although we're finding it hard to feel sorry for him.

You could hardly say romance has blossomed over tequilas and wasabi, but Kortni takes her chances and hops into Jeremiah's bed - much to the annoyance of Nilsa.

'At the end of the day, if I want Jeremiah I will have Jeremiah,' she says. 'Kortni's no competition for me.'

There's nothing like a good love triangle, and it looks as though this rivalry will give us plenty of drama in the coming weeks.

Episode one may have treated us to a good dose of partying, but it's not going to be a free ride for the MTV Floribama Shore cast. Just like their Jersey Shore predecessors, they have to earn their keep over the summer by working at the beach.

Although 'working' might be too strong a word for casually strolling along the shore dusting off sun loungers and re-adjusting umbrellas.

'As long as I can get enough money to pay for my liquor, I'm good!' Candace declares.

And it seems as though that might be the theme for the next seven weeks. A little bit of work and a whole lot of liquor - plus plenty of drama and debauchery along the way.
