'He doesn't want to hurt her': Rak-Su's Myles Stephenson 'shoots down claims of reconciliation with ex Rebecca Bignell as friends say he needs to stay single after X Factor win'

They are said to have called off their 18-month romance due to the pressures of his time on X Factor.

And following his win with boyband Rak-Su this weekend, Myles Stephenson has reportedly dismissed hope of a reunion with girlfriend Rebecca Bignell, because it would be 'selfish'.

Insiders claim that Myles is conscious of hurting his ex-partner because he cannot commit to a relationship at this time.

Not getting back together: The claims come after he is said to have called off his 18-month romance with Rebecca, because it would be 'selfish' to continue as he works on his music career

A source told The Sun on Wednesday: 'Myles wants to protect Rebecca as much as possible. He cannot commit to a relationship. He needs to be single right now.

'Rebecca is a very important person in his life. He is conscious that he doesn't want to hurt her by giving her false hope.

'It would be selfish for Myles to lead Rebecca on. The time is not right. But who knows what will happen in the future. Never say never.'

MailOnline has reached out to a representative for the band for further comment.

Romance? The outing comes shortly after it was reportedly Malin 'enjoying a secret fling with the X Factor's Rak-Su star Myles Stephenson' (left)

It follows claims that the duo were headed for 'crunch talks' in the coming weeks with a view to reconciling.

Myles and Rebecca's relationship fell apart in September when he stepped back from the relationship to focus on his music but they officially split in November.

They had been together for a year and a half and known each other for nine years before.

The duo stayed on good terms, and she has continued to promote the band's music as well as visit him at the studio during the live shows.

Sources close to Sony music boss Simon Cowell - the Rak-Su mentor - have also reiterated that the boys' focus should be music.

During the competition, it was claimed that Myles had grown closer to a female production staff member but that was later denied, with reports that he was 'completely single'.

A source said at the time: 'Rak-Su are the favourites [to win] and Simon’s priority - he doesn’t want anything getting in the way of their focus.'

Only proving their immediate success further, the boys had a whopping five songs in the UK iTunes chart on Monday - a mere 24 hours after their win on the ITV show.

The boys proved to be overwhelmingly popular during the live show at London's ExCel on Sunday night, with the studio audience loudly chanting their name after each performance.

Clearly all behind the four-piece, the other acts of their year's competition were celebrating with Rak-Su on Tuesday night in London, hours after they confirmed they're performing at Capital's Jingle Bell Ball on Saturday.
