Tragic loss: Cath (pictured with Lisa) battled cancer for 12 years before she died in the arms of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family
July this year marked five years since Lisa lost her mother Cath to cancer - which she also marked with a touching message on Instagram.
The former Emmerdale actress paid tribute to her brave mother, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000.
Lisa wrote: 'Whenever she entered a room she shone like the brightest light with her never ending energy, she always said exactly what she thought and everyone who had the incredible opportunity of getting close to her knows how funny, witty and insanely clever she was.
'My life emptied when she fell asleep five years ago today so I ask today to spare a small thought for everyone close to you who have lost loved ones too early in their precious lives.
'I share today with the ones I love on earth and always live life to the fullest as you never know when it's your last. Love you, Mum. May your legacy always live on in me.'
Heartfelt tribute: Lisa marked the five-year anniversary of her mother Cath's death with a touching message on Instagram
Cath battled cancer for 12 years before she died in the arms of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family.
Lisa told the Mirror in 2012: 'It went into her ovaries, then her pelvis. When it reaches the pelvis... boom, it goes round the body like a firework. I knew then that it wasn’t good. She was fun and smiles to the very, very end.'
In November 2016, the actress revealed she didn't think she was over her mother's death. Speaking on Loose Women, the personality said she had an epiphany on holiday in Slovenia.
Empotional: Lisa previously revealed that she doesn't think she will ever get over her mother's death and explained that she still thinks about her mum every day
She said: 'A lot of things dawned on me. I lost my mum four years ago. I had this massive realisation, of how much I missed her, and what a brave face I’ve been putting on Christmas after Christmas.
'Mum was this woman who was always in the kitchen, the table was beautiful, and I had to learn by her brilliance and take over.
'It was pure guilt, I've had to realise that for myself. I put this t-shirt on, this bravado t-shirt, if I'm not the matriarch with the smile then my brother and dad will struggle, because they see my mum in me.'
