Meek Mill cleans prison grounds and serves food as part of general labor crew... as he officially appeals 2-4 year sentence

Meek Mill has been a model inmate in his short time in prison so far but if he gets it his way he won't have to be there much longer.

The 30-year-old rapper - real name Robert Rihmeek Williams - is part of the general labor crew in jail according to a Thursday report by TMZ

The same day TMZ also reported that he has officially appealed the court decision that landed him a sentence of 2-4 years.

The publication obtained legal documents in which Meek's lawyer Brian McMonagle is beginning the effort to request that a higher court free his client on the grounds that the judge had been unfair and biased against him.

Despite the issues in court the All Eyes On You hitmaker seems to not be using his fame as an excuse to get out of hard work as he is said to be cleaning the cell block and prison grounds.

Meek even cooks food, serves it up, and washes the dishes according to the report.

No doubt it is a humbling experience as TMZ says he is only earning 19 cents an hour but it is claimed that he does it all with a smile.

His rep told the publication that he is a 'model inmate' and does receive some benefits to being on his best behavior.

Apparently Meek is able to attend electrical and carpentry shops and is currently on the waitlist for therapy courses.

The news comes just days after a bit of a setback as he was denied bail by a Philadelphia judge on Friday.

The Philly-bred rapper's bid for freedom was refused after judge Genece Brinkley determined the RICO hitmaker a 'flight risk' and 'a danger to the community.'

Mill's attorney says they plan to appeal her ruling, saying it continues a 'long pattern of unfair treatment.'

The Jay Z protege and lawyers are currently trying to overturn the celeb's - real name Robert Rihmeek Williams - two to four year prison sentence for violating his probation.

The chart-topping rapper's probation officer and a prosecutor had recommended he not be jailed.

But during the hearing judge Brinkley also suggested that Meek's clean drug test was suspect, explaining the 30-year-old could have had help from a 'detox' product known as 'fast flush.'

Her decision comes after the state Superior Court last week told her to act 'without further delay' on a two-week-old request to free the rapper.

Mill was sentenced last month for violating probation initially stemming from a 2008 drug and gun conviction, for which he served eight months and was put on five-year probation.

Mill breached the terms of this probation in 2015 by booking an out of state concert without getting the court's permission and not giving his probation officer his correct phone number. As a result he was jailed for five months and his probation was extended for five more years

However this past year he was arrested twice - for allegedly assaulting an airport employee, and reckless endangerment after he was filmed speeding and doing stunts on a motorcycle on a New York street.

Despite both cases being dropped in court, they were taken as evidence of probation violation by the judge.

Mill's imprisonment sparked backlash in opinion pieces, rallies, billboards and bus ads.
