How Harvey made Hollywood COMPLICIT: Web of deceit spun by Weinstein that ensnared everyone from Disney to Hillary (and his assistants who fetched him penile injections) is laid bare in report that will shame ALL of Tinseltown

  • Harvey Weinstein 'had agents, journalists, private investigators, film executives, assistants, and lawyers help him cover up decades of alleged sexual misconduct'
  • Disgraced movie mogul used 'fear, intimidation, and psychological warfare' to dissuade women and others from revealing damaging information about him
  • Weinstein reportedly had the National Enquirer dig up unflattering stories about Rose McGowan, the actress who accused him of rape
  • He also reportedly bragged to other women he was trying to seduce that they needed to sleep with him to help their careers
  • Gwyneth Paltrow, who says she spurned Weinstein's advances when he came on to her in a hotel room, told her agent, who did not pursue the matter
  • Lena Dunham told the New York Times that she twice warned Hillary Clinton's campaign not to associate with Weinstein due to his behavior with women
  • Weinstein's former assistant says she was asked to fetch penile injections for him so that he could treat his erectile dysfunction before his meetings with women

Harvey Weinstein had an army of agents, journalists, private investigators, film executives, assistants, and lawyers in and around Hollywood help him cover up decades of alleged sexual misconduct, according to a bombshell report on Tuesday.

The New York Times ran a lengthy investigative report which included interviews with 200 people who revealed the extent to which the disgraced movie mogul used 'fear, intimidation, psychological and emotional abuse' to keep his behavior under wraps.

According to the Times, Weinstein would use a number of tactics to silence potential accusers, including bribery, intimidation, threatening to spread damaging information, and threatening to destroy careers.

To that end, Weinstein relied on gossip columnists, newspaper editors, lowly office assistants, agents who knew about his past but still sent female clients to meet him alone in his hotel room, and others.

The Times story contains shocking allegations that shed further light on Weinstein's near absolute power in the film industry.

According to the newspaper, Weinstein offered $50,000 to the former manager representing actress Rose McGowan, who was writing a memoir that included details about how he allegedly raped her.

Weinstein also offered McGowan's literary agent additional business.

Weinstein reportedly went to great lengths to silence actress Rose McGowan, who accused him of rape. The disgraced movie mogul reportedly asked the National Enquirer to dig up damaging information about McGowan to dissuade her from coming forward

If Weinstein's business associates tried to stand up to him over his behavior, he would find embarrassing details about their past and use it against them, it is claimed.

Agents representing up-and-coming actresses who were made aware of the allegations against Weinstein were scared to raise a fuss for fear it would hurt their future business.

Mia Kirshner, a Canadian actress, traveled to New York in the mid-1990s to meet Weinstein about her starring in a film about the Warsaw ghetto uprising.

This had personal significance for Kirshner, whose grandparents were Holocaust survivors.

Her agents set up a meeting with Weinstein at her hotel room.

But when he came to her hotel room, Weinstein made it clear he was interested in advancing her career in exchange for sex, it is claimed.

Kirshner rejected him. She left the room feeling 'extremely upset and alarmed and scared.'

When she told her agent, Lisa Grode, she was shocked. She then told her talent manager, John Carrabino, and his boss, Sandy Gallin.

Gallin was angry. He urged Kirshner to meet Weinstein again and wear a recording device.

But Kirshner said that Grode and Carrabino vetoed the idea.

'I was told to forget about it; it was pointless to do anything about this,' Kirshner said.

The actress said that her representatives had let her down.

'I was very disappointed by them,' she said.

'It all came down to money,' she said. 'It speaks to why he was protected as opposed to the actors.'

One of Hollywood's most prominent talent agencies, Creative Artists Agency, was filled with talent reps who knew about Weinstein's alleged predatory behaviour.

According to the Times, at least eight CAA agents were aware of Weinstein's reputation, yet they continued to send their female clients to meet Weinstein face to face in hotel rooms.

Weinstein tried to use his ties to CAA to get it to kill a story being written by one of its clients, the journalist Ronan Farrow.

Ambra Battilana is an Italian model who filed a complaint with the NYPD alleging that Weinstein groped her. She was reportedly offered money by company that owns the National Enquirer, which sought exclusive rights to her story so that it could prevent its publication

Ambra Battilana is an Italian model who filed a complaint with the NYPD alleging that Weinstein groped her. She was reportedly offered money by company that owns the National Enquirer, which sought exclusive rights to her story so that it could prevent its publication

It was Farrow, formerly of NBC News, who wrote one of the first stories about Weinstein's alleged rape of McGowan as well as allegations of sexual misconduct against a number of other actresses.

Farrow pursued the story and wrote it for The New Yorker.

Another Weinstein accuser, Gwyneth Paltrow, says that she spurned Weinstein's advances when they met in a hotel room.

When she told her agent at the time, Rick Kurtzman of CAA, he 'looked incredulous' and was revolted.

Still, Paltrow told the Times that Kurtzman did not take it to his superiors.

In the wake of the publication, CAA has issued an apology saying 'even one of our clients being harassed over the company’s 42 years is one too many.

'We are here to serve, fight for, and protect our clients. We apologize to any person the agency let down for not meeting the high expectations we place on ourselves, as individuals and as a company.

'We unequivocally support those who have spoken out publicly. Out of respect for our clients, we will maintain the confidence of anything said in private conversations. '

The Times also reported that after Paltrow won an Oscar in 1999 for her role in Shakespeare in Love – which was distributed by Weinstein's Miramax Films – the producer would tell other actresses he was trying to seduce that he had slept with the star actress.

Paltrow heard from others that women were being told by Weinstein that 'the best thing you can do for your career now' is to have sex with him – as he falsely claimed she did for her career.

Since the scores of allegations against Weinstein surfaced, Paltrow says she had reached out to women who have heard her name mentioned in this context.

'He's not the first person to lie about sleeping with someone, but he used the lie as an assault weapon,' Paltrow said.

While the specifics of Weinstein's alleged behavior with women may not have been obvious to all, his volatile personality was no secret.

In 1993, the Walt Disney Company bought Miramax and took on Harvey Weinstein and his brother, Bob, as employees.

Though traditionally Disney has been a company with strict codes of behavior for its workers, the Weinsteins were given virtual free rein.

Another Weinstein accuser, Gwyneth Paltrow, says that she spurned Weinstein's advances when they met in a hotel room. When she told her agent at the time, Rick Kurtzman of CAA, he 'looked incredulous' and was revolted. Still, Paltrow told the Times that Kurtzman did not take it to his superiors

In the mid-1990s, Harvey Weinstein was involved in a physical altercation with another Disney employee. That resulted in a financial settlement.

Disney would reach another financial settlement with a film producer, Sybil Robson Orr, who sued after Weinstein allegedly berated her with vulgarities and threatened to destroy her career.

In 2004, the Weinsteins and Disney parted ways. The brothers went on to form The Weinstein Company.

By this time, dozens of women had made sexual misconduct allegations against Harvey Weinstein.

The Times also reports that gossip columnists would help Weinstein by offering tawdry stories about other celebrities in exchange for news outlets keeping quiet about negative aspects of the producer's life.

In early 2004, Weinstein paid AJ Benza, a former New York Daily News gossip columnist, a monthly salary.

Benza's job was to hunt down stories about other celebrities and then trade those stories to other gossip writers who learned that Harvey Weinstein was cheating on his then-wife, it is alleged.

Weinstein's spokesperson denied the claims, saying that Benza was paid to provide public relations work for Miramax.

According to the Times, Weinstein also had a longstanding business relationship with American Media, the company which owned gossip tabloids like The National Enquirer, Globe, OK!, Radar Online, and others.

He tried to use his ties to the press to silence accusers.

In March 2015, the New York Police Department questioned Weinstein about allegations he groped Italian model Ambra Battilana.

In order to keep the story under wraps, the Enquirer tried a tactic known as 'catch and kill' – pay for exclusive rights to a damaging story and then refuse to publish it.

Canadian actress Mia Kirshner alleges that Weinstein offered to help further her career in exchange for sex. When she notified her agents and talent managers, they made it clear to her that they would not pursue the matter and that it was best to move on as if it never happened

According to the Times, American Media offered to pay a hefty sum of money to Battilana for the rights to her story, but she declined.

Prosecutors decided that there was not enough evidence to pursue a case against Weinstein, and the story never appeared in the Enquirer or any other American Media publication.

When Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan hinted at Weinstein's alleged misconduct in 2015 and 2016, the National Enquirer's editor, Dylan Howard, told a reporter at another news outlet associated with American Media to dig up damaging information about McGowan.

'This is killer. Especially if my fingerprints r not on this,' Weinstein wrote in an email obtained by the Times and first reported in The New Yorker.

American Media told the Times: 'To the extent AMI provided 'off the record' information to Mr. Weinstein about his accusers…[it did so] at a time when Mr. Weinstein was denying any harassment.'

Another startling claim made in the Times article was by Girls star and co-creator Lena Dunham. Dunham told the Times that she warned Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign not to associate with Weinstein because there were rumors in Hollywood about alleged rapes he had committed

Another startling claim made in the Times article was by Girls star and co-creator Lena Dunham.

Dunham told the Times that she warned Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign not to associate with Weinstein because there were rumors in Hollywood about alleged rapes he had committed.

'I just want you to let you know that Harvey's a rapist and this is going to come out at some point,' Dunham said she told Kristina Schake, the campaign's deputy communications director.

'I think it's a really bad idea for him to host fund-raisers and be involved because it's an open secret in Hollywood that he has a problem with sexual assault.'

Dunham also said she told Adrienne Elrod, another Clinton campaign aide, about Weinstein.

Dunham, an avid Clinton supporter, wasn't the only one warning the campaign, for whom Weinstein raised funds and actively promoted.

Tina Brown, the magazine editor who had a tumultuous business relationship with Weinstein, told the Times that she had warned the Clinton camp in 2008.

'I was hearing that Harvey's sleaziness with women had escalated since I left Talk in 2002 and she was unwise to be so closely associated with him,' Brown wrote in an email to the Times.

But Elrod and Schake denied that Dunham mentioned rape.

Robby Mook, Clinton's campaign manager, also denied that anyone warned him about Weinstein.

'We were shocked when we learned what he'd done,' a Clinton spokesperson told the Times.

'It's despicable behavior, and the women that have come forward have shown enormous courage. As to claims about a warning, that's something staff wouldn't forget.'

Ashley Matthau (seen right with her husband Charles Matthau), who appeared in one of Weinstein's films in 2004, says the producer pushed her onto a hotel bed and masturbated on her. When she left the room in tears, Weinstein's female assistant 'wouldn't acknowledge her'

Clinton aides also said that none of them could recall being warned about Weinstein by Brown back in 2008.

Dunham told the Times that she doesn't believe her warnings about Weinstein ever got to Clinton.

Still, he was shocked that no action was taken.

'A year and a half ago, on one of the most progressive campaigns in history, this wasn't a problem,' Dunham said.

After Clinton lost to Donald Trump in last year's election, she still associated with Weinstein. There were talks about a documentary project on which they would collaborate.

Clinton's lawyer, Robert Barnett, told the Times that the 'talks were ongoing until the allegations surfaced, at which point all discussions ceased - completely and permanently.'

AJ Benza, a former New York Daily News gossip columnist, reportedly helped Weinstein conceal unflattering stories about him having an affair

The Times also details a shocking allegation involving one of Weinstein's female assistants and a woman who played a dancer in one of Weinstein's films.

In 2004, Ashley Matthau had a minor cameo as a dancer in Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, a film that was co-produced by Miramax.

During filming, Matthau said that one of Weinstein's assistants ushered her into a car.

The car dropped her off at a hotel, where she was told she would meet Weinstein to discuss work matters.

The assistant escorted Matthau to the room and she waited outside while the actress and Weinstein met inside.

Matthau alleges that Weinstein pushed her onto a bed and masturbated on her.

When Matthau left the room in tears over what happened, the female assistant 'wouldn't even acknowledge me.'

'It just seemed like a well-oiled machine.'

Matthau would eventually reach a financial settlement with Weinstein.

Another Weinstein assistant, Sandeep Rehal, told the Times she was tasked with facilitating her boss' meetings with women in a specially rented apartment.

Rehal, who was 28 years old at the time, had to stock the apartment with women's lingerie, flowers, two bathrobes, and extra clothes for Weinstein – all with a corporate credit card.

She also told the Times that she had to run down and procure penile injections for Weinstein to treat his erectile dysfunction just before his meetings with women.

Rehal said Weinstein would inject his penis with Caverject and alprostadil. She would deliver the drugs to Weinstein at hotels and other locations.

Rehal said that she and another assistant had to accompany Weinstein to sex-addiction therapy in 2015.

From A-list stars to budding actresses: The women who accuse Harvey Weinstein of rape and sexual harassment during his two decade reign of terror in Hollywood

Many were young, powerless and afraid to speak out in case their careers were ruined.

For nearly three decades their accusations remained bottled up, some suppressed by pay-offs.

Dozens of women have now come forward with allegations of sexual harassment against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, the man once described as 'God' of the film industry.

The accusations, including from some of the world's most famous actresses, range from inappropriate massages to rape.

Here is a list of some of the brave women who have come forward so far.

Natassia Malthe

The Norweigan actress claims Weinstein raped her in a London hotel room after the 2008 Baftas.

The Elektra star said the mogul turned up at her hotel room and started banging on the door.

When she let him in he 'pushed her back and forced himself' on her without using a condom.

'I was completely grossed out. I believe that I disassociated during the time that he was having sex with me. I laid still and closed my eyes and just wanted it to end. I was like a dead person. Afterwards I lay there in complete disgust,' she said.

Lysette Anthony

English actress Lysette Anthony claimed he raped her in the hallway of her London home in the 1980s. 'He pushed me inside and rammed me up against the coat rack in my tiny hall and started fumbling at my gown. He was trying to kiss me and shove inside me. It was disgusting,' she said.

Ms Anthony tried to resist but was unable to fight off heavily-built Weinstein. She said: 'Finally I just gave up. At least I was able to stop him kissing me.

'As he ground himself against me and shoved inside me, I kept my eyes shut tight, held my breath and just let him get on with it.'

'He came over my leg like a dog and then left. It was pathetic, revolting,' she told The Sunday Times. 'I remember lying in the bath, crying.'

Mimi Haleyi

The production assistant has accused Weinstein of forcibly performing oral sex on her in his child's bedroom at his former New York home. She tried to deter him by revealing she was menstruating but she claims he did not stop and even removed her tampon.

'I was mortified. I was in disbelief and I was disgusted,' Haleyi said. 'I would not have had anyone do that to me even if that person was a romantic partner.'

Dominique Huett: The actress claims the mogul sexually abused her in 2010 after luring her to his Beverly Hills hotel room. He demanded she give him a massage and he perform oral sex on her.

'He would not take 'no' for an answer', her legal complaint says.

At a private screening at his home, Weinstein interrupted the film after just 15 minutes and lead her to his bedroom, announcing that he wanted to give her a massage.

'I thought he was joking at first. He was not. For the first time since I met him, I felt unsafe,' she wrote.

The actress says she panicked and offered him one instead - writing that this would allow her to be physically in control of the situation and where he placed his hands.

But when the producer announced that he was going to remove his pants she decided she had to leave.

On a separate occasion he tried to entice up to his hotel room and told her: 'If you want to be an actress, then you have to be willing to do this sort of thing'

Lena Headley

The Game of Thrones star has revealed Weinstein became furious with her when she spurned his advances as he led her to his hotel room.

'We walked to the lift and the energy shifted,' Headey described. 'My whole body went into high alert, the lift was going up and I said to Harvey, 'I'm not interested in anything other than work, please don't think I got in here with you for any other reason, nothing is going to happen,' I said. I don't know what possessed me to speak out at that moment, only that I had such a strong sense of don't come near me.'

'He was silent after I spoke, furious. We got out of the lift and walked to his room. His hand was on my back, he was marching me forward, not a word, I felt completely powerless, he tried his key card and it didn't work, then he got really angry.

'He walked me back to the lift, through the hotel to the valet, by grabbing and holding tightly to the back of my arm.'

'He paid for my car and whispered in my ear: 'Don't tell anyone about this, not your manager, not your agent.' I got into my car and cried.'

Kate Beckinsale

In an Instagram post the Underworld star said Weinstein made a move on her when she was just 17.

'When I arrived reception told me to go to his room. He opened the door in his bathrobe. I was incredibly naive and young and it did not cross my mind that this older, unattractive man would expect me to have any sexual interest in him. After declining alcohol and announcing that I had school in the morning I left, uneasy but unscathed. A few years later he asked me if he had tried anything with me in that first meeting.I realized he couldn't remember if he had assaulted me or not.'

 Gwyneth Paltrow

The star said that when she was 22, Weinstein touched her and suggested having joint massages in a hotel bedroom before she started shooting the 1996 Jane Austen adaptation Emma. She told the New York Times: 'I was a kid, I was signed up, I was petrified'.

She said she told her then boyfriend Brad Pitt about the incident and he confronted the mogul. She said Weinstein then told her not to tell anyone and she feared getting fired.

Gwyneth Paltrow, 45, is an American actress, singer, and food writer who made her name starring in Seven (1995) and Emma (1996).

Angelina Jolie

The actress told the New York Times she had to turn down advances from Weinstein in 1998 and chose never to work with him again. She said she warned other women about him.

She said: 'I had a bad experience with Harvey Weinstein in my youth, and as a result, chose never to work with him again and warn others when they did.'

Angelina Jolie, 42, is cited as Hollywood's highest-paid actress. She made her screen debut as a child alongside her father, Jon Voight, in Lookin' to Get Out (1982).

Cara Delevigne

The model wrote on her Instagram page about a meeting with Weinstein in which he 'asked her to kiss another woman.'

She wrote: 'As soon as we were alone he began to brag about all the actresses he had slept with and how he had made their careers and spoke about other inappropriate things of a sexual nature. He then invited me to his room. I quickly declined and asked his assistant if my car was outside. She said it wasn't and wouldn't be for a bit and I should go to his room.

'At that moment I felt very powerless and scared but didn't want to act that way hoping that I was wrong about the situation. When I arrived I was relieved to find another woman in his room and thought immediately I was safe. He asked us to kiss and she began some sort of advances upon his direction. I swiftly got up and asked him if he knew that I could sing. And I began to sing....i thought it would make the situation better....more professional....like an audition....i was so nervous. After singing I said again that I had to leave. He walked me to the door and stood in front of it and tried to kiss me on the lips. I stopped him and managed to get out of the room'.

Cara Delevigne, 25, is an English fashion model and actress. She signed with Storm Model Management after leaving school in 2009.

Eva Green

Green's mother says Weinstein sexually harassed her during a meeting at his suite in Paris.

The Bond Girl, 37, managed to escape however after being summoned to the movie mogul's hotel room, her mother Marlene Jobert said in a radio interview on Friday.

'He operated with her the exact same way he acted with all the others, under the pretext of a professional meeting, of a script that had to get to her with a nice part into the bargain,' said Jobert.

'Since his office was also in his hotel suite, she [Eva] followed him, and the exact same thing happened to her as to the others. She managed to escape, but he threatened to destroy her professionally.'

Jobert added: '[It was] the usual scenario, the same pattern he used for all the other victims.'

Lea Seydoux

The French actress accused the mogul of jumping on her and trying to kiss her.

She wrote in The Guardian: 'We were talking on the sofa when he suddenly jumped on me and tried to kiss me. I had to defend myself. He’s big and fat, so I had to be forceful to resist him. He tried more than once. This was never going to be about work. He had other intentions – I could see that very clearly. All throughout the evening, he flirted and stared at me as if I was a piece of meat.

'It was hard to say no because he’s so powerful. I’m an actress and he’s a producer. We are in the same industry, so its impossible to avoid him. I’ve seen how he operates: the way he looks for an opening. The way he tests women to see what he can get away with. That’s the most disgusting thing. Everyone knew what Harvey was up to and no one did anything. It's unbelievable that he’s been able to act like this for decades and still keep his career.'

Lea Seydoux, 35, starred in Bond film Spectre and was nominated for the César Award for Best Actress for her role as a lady-in-waiting to Marie Antoinette in the film Farewell, My Queen (2012).

Minka Kelly

The Friday Night Lights star said she met Weinstein at an event and soon after was asked by her agent if she would be willing to meet him at his hotel room to discuss her career.

Kelly said that she agreed to the meeting but refused to go to Weinstein's room, and instead met him at the restaurant inside his hotel with an assistant.

'He bulls*** me for 5 minutes re: movies he could put me in, then asked the assistant to excuse us,' said Weinstein.

'As she walked away, he said, "I know you were feeling what I was feeling when we met the other night” and then regaled me with offers of a lavish life filled with trips around the world on private planes etc.

'IF I would be his girlfriend.'

Kelly posted a photo of a cross stitch alongside her post that read: 'Boys will be Boys.'

The second 'boys' was crossed out at the bottom however, and stitched in was 'held accountable for their f***ing actions.'

Kelly claimed the alleged encounter was the day-to-day b***shit of being an actress.'

Tara Subkoff

The actress claims Weinstein  sexually harassed her when she was up for a part in one of his movies in the 1990s.

She told Variety: 'That night I was offered the role, and I went out to a premiere after party that was also at.

'He motioned for me to come over to him, and then grabbed me to sit me on his lap. I was so surprised and shocked I couldn’t stop laughing because it was so awkward.'

She said he could then feel him getting an erection.

'It was implied that if I did not comply with doing what he asked me to do that I would not get the role that I had already been informally offered,' she added.

'I laughed in his face as I was in shock and so uncomfortable. I left the party right after that.'

After denying his advances, Subkoff claims she was stripped of the part.

Asia Argento

The Italian actress has accused Weinstein of forcibly performing oral sex on her when she was 21.

She told the New Yorker: 'He terrified me, and he was big. It wouldn't stop. It was a nightmare.' She said she went on to have consensual sex with him over the years that followed. She documented the alleged attack in her 2000 film Scarlet Diva.

Asia Argento is an Italian actress, singer, model, and director, best known for the role of Yelena in the action film xXx (2002).

Zoe Brock

Model Zoë Brock was 23 when she allegedly had to lock herself in a hotel bathroom to escape Weinstein's advances.

She wrote on Medium: 'Harvey left the room, but not for long. He re-emerged naked a couple of minutes later and asked if I would give him a massage. Panicking, in shock, I remember weighing up the options and wondering how much I needed to placate him to keep myself safe.

'I told him I was uncomfortable and that I was angry that I had been tricked into this position. He pleaded with me to let him massage me and I let him put his hands on my shoulders while my mind raced. Harvey chased me, d**k, b**ls and all, and banged on the door with his fists, pleading with me to come out.'

Zoe Brock is a model and actress who was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, and raised in Australia.

Claire Forlani

The Meet Joe Black actress appeared in the 2000 Miramax film Boys and Girls. She says she escaped Harvey's advances five times.

'I had two Peninsula Hotel meetings in the evening with Harvey and all I remember was I ducked, dived and ultimately got out of there without getting slobbered over, well just a bit.

'Yes, massage was suggested. The three dinners with Harvey I don't really remember the time period, I was 25.

'I remember him telling me all the actresses who had slept with him and what he had done for them.'

I wasn't drinking the cool aid [sic], I knew Harvey was a master manipulator.

'He also announced to me at the last dinner I had with him at Dominic's that his pilot knew to be on standby because he could never get me to sleep with him, to which I did what I always did, make light of the situation, a joke here or there and moved on.'

'I'd had a fair amount of experience. Sometimes I got angry, really angry. I wondered why I had Prey stamped on my forehead but this I kept to myself.'

Louisette Geiss

The actress said she was called to a late night meeting with Weinstein in 2008. He allegedly emerged in a bathrobe and told her he would green light her script if she watched him masterbate. She left the meeting.

Geiss made her accusations in a press conference with high-profile attorney Gloria Allred on October 10.

The star was born in Miami, Florida. She is an actress and producer, best known for Wishmaster 3: Beyond the Gates of Hell (2001).

Judith Godreche

The French actress says Weinstein tried to massage her and pull off her sweater after asking her up to his Cannes suite to see the view in 1996, the NYT reported.
