Iskra Lawrence may be a famous model, but she shares the same common fear of walking home alone that plagues many other women around the world.
The 27-year-old Aerie model took to Instagram on Thursday to share a photo of herself wearing a one-piece swimsuit in Tulum, Mexico, while holding up a drawing of someone walking down a poorly lit street.
'I feel unsafe walking down dark, badly lit streets,' she confessed. 'Sometimes I feel people are watching me. I try to keep myself safe by not being alone, telling people where I am going, and using safe means of transport.'

'Had the most incredible day': Iskra explained on Instagram stories that this is her fourth time in Tulum in four years
Iskra urged her 3.8 million Instagram followers to follow her lead and share photos of themselves holding up their own drawings using the hashtag #throughhereyes.
The curvy star posted the picture while she was on location in Mexico for her latest shoot with Aerie, and the photo sees her modeling one of the brand's one-piece swimsuits.
Earlier in the day, she took to Instagram Stories to post snapshot of herself near a palm tree, writing: 'Had the most incredible day in tulum with my @aerie fam. 4th time here in 4years and I still get giddy with how wonderful the team is and how grateful I am to be here [sic].'

'Many progressive movements are bound to be imperfect. So am I - all humans are perfectly imperfect,' she wrote. 'I’m unsure whether to post this, but if i can use my privilege to serve as reminder and support a movement which I hope can create change.
'By educating ourselves and others hopefully we can encourage equality worldwide, encourage large corps and individuals with efficient capabilities to build infrastructure, improve access to education and healthcare as well as protecting people from violence, sexual abuse and trafficking,' she continued.
'Because the following inequities still exist for women - and so I shall continue to wear this T-shirt.'
