Lily James gives a saucy flash of her lace bra in vibrant purple shirt and velvet trousers as she stylishly steps out in NYC

She is known for her trendy sense of style, which often draws inspiration from vintage clothing.

And Lily James proved her naturally fashionable flair once again on Thursday as she embarked on another busy day in NYC.

The actress, 28, was casually cool in velvet trousers and a plunging purple shirt - which gave a saucy flash of her lace bra - as she left the Bowery Hotel and headed out to explore the Big Apple.

The actress was typically quirky in her vibrant collared shirt, which she left mostly unbuttoned to give a glimpse of her sexy lace bra underneath.

Proving her trendy sense of style elsewhere, Lily paired the top with high-rise velvet trousers, which cinched in at her slim waist with a chunky buckled belt.

She wrapped up warm in a sleek suede coat, lined with black fleece and falling all the way to her calf, and tied her look together with preppy patent loafers, adorned with bright flowers on the front.

Keep cosy in a shearling coat like Lily's

Lily James was spotted out and about in New York protecting herself against the elements wearing a cosy belted shearling coat by The Row.

We're loving this shearling lined jacket which is bound to keep you toasty throughout the chilly months; meanwhile the belted self-tie waist makes for a flattering fit and prevents it from being too bulky.

Slinging a leather handbag over one shoulder however and accessorising with dark sunglasses, Lily maintained a hint of glamour in the casual look as she headed out.

The British screen star left her hair in loose waves and opted for minimal make-up, to prove her striking natural beauty to all.

Lily has been enjoying some down time in the city over the last week - and was spotted strolling the streets with boyfriend Matt Smith on Tuesday.

The pair have been inseparable ever since they first embarked on romance back in 2014.

It is no wonder they were keen to reunite in the city, as Lily has spent the past few months filming the Mamma Mia prequel in Croatia.

Filming kicked off in mid-August, and the hotly-anticipated film is slated to be released next July.

Lily will play Donna way before she became Mamma Mia! heroine Sophie's mother, played by Meryl Streep in the first film.

However, the project was not without drama - as Lily had tripped towards the end of filming, and badly stubbed her toe.

She was left in a less than glamorous foot brace, causing some of the shooting to be pushed back.

'Poor Lily tripped really badly and stubbed her toe, breaking her foot in the process,' a studio insider told the Daily Mail. 'They were due to shoot most of the dancing scenes this week, so Lily's have all been delayed.'
