The Pirates of Somalia film is based on the book, The Pirates of Somalia: Inside Their Hidden World, written by Canadian journalist Jay Bahadur.
The film follows the story of a rookie journalist — played by Evans — who decides to get an inside look into the lives of pirates in Somalia.
The director Bryan Buckley told an audience at this year's Tribeca Film Festival, that he made the movie to tell the real story of the Somali people, according to Deadline.
He said: 'Originally, I had done a short doc for the UN on refugees. I met Somali people in Kenya and I realized that we weren’t getting the proper story from them.'
The Pirates of Somalia will be released in theaters on December 8.

On the silver screen: Melanie is also in James Franco's movie The Disaster Artist, which is also out December 8
