Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner reveals the final season won't air until 2019... leaving fans freaking out
The dramatic end to Game Of Thrones' seventh season back in August left fans wanting more.
But they will have to wait—with the show's star Sophie Turner confirming the eighth and final season will not air for another two years.
'Game Of Thrones comes out in 2019,' the matter of fact star announced in her interview with Variety.
Revelation: Sophie Turner told Variety on December 8 that the final season of Game of Thrones will air in 2019, leaving fans shocked
The delay is thought to be rooted in the writing—with the show now taking place outside the plot line of the published books by George R. R. Martin.
The show's most dedicated fans were well aware that the final season was upon them due to a comment made by Casey Bloys, HBO programming president back in 2016.
'[The showrunners] have a very specific plan about the number of seasons they want to do. If I could get them to do more I would take 10 more seasons,' he said. 'But we take their lead on what they [need] to make the best version of their show.'
But while the schedule was old news to Turner, fans were unaware they would be waiting so long—with many taking to Twitter to air their grievances with a series of hilarious tweets.
'Looks like I'll be cryogenic-ally freezing myself until 2019,' joked Sammy Holladay, while Erik Smith wrote: 'Geez, I hope my parents are still around.'

When the next season does roll around, it will be the shortest season yet.
Fans can expect six episodes running roughly an hour and half in length.
Production started in November and will continue for the next six or seven months.
Turner talked with excitement about the upcoming final season in her interview with Variety.
'It’s going to be tricky for [Sansa], because at the end of last season, she felt that she had everything set up. She had her family back together. They were in control of the North again.
'This season, there’s a new threat, and all of a sudden she finds herself somewhat back in the deep end... This season is more a passionate fight for her than a political, manipulative kind of fight.'

As season eight ramps up production, fans are beginning to toss around theories for the final few episodes of the HBO series.
Thanks to a cryptic comment by Lena Headey, many are hoping that her character, Cersi Lannister, lives to see the finale.
'I [assumed] oh, I'm going to die,' the actress said to Time. 'And then, I went straight to the end. I was really in shock. I think obviously, now, there's got to be some body count at the end of [season] 8.'

Fans will just have to wait to find out. And those trying to spoil the ending will have a hard time doing so as the GOT team plans to film multiple alternate endings of the final episode.
Away from filming, Turner hopes to find time to plan her wedding with Joe Jonas who popped the question on October 15.
The bride-to-be hasn’t set a wedding date, but GOT fans are already hoping that her dress is inspired by the series.
Joe and the X-Men: Apocalypse star have been dating since December 2016 after meeting through mutual friends.
Dating rumors were fueled when the two were first spotted together at a Kings of Leon concert.
Jonas got down on one knee less than a year later with a teardrop diamond ring.
