Naughty or nice? Hilary Duff goes holiday shopping and posts adorable snap of son Luca, five, with Santa

Christmas is definitely here for Hilary Duff.

The actress and singer, 30, seemed to be in the holiday spirit as she stocked up on some festive shopping in the Studio City area of Los Angeles on Thursday, before taking her little boy Luca, five, to visit Santa.

Posting an adorable snap on her Instagram page on Friday morning, the shot saw the youngster peering over Father Christmas' shoulder while he checked out a file.

The Younger star decided to have a bit of fun with her combined 13.8 followers on Twitter and Instagram and asked them for caption suggestions.

And she was soon deluged with hilarious replies.

Some of the funnier ones included:'When you gotta sneak a peak at the nice list to see if it’s too late'

'Whew...he wasn’t watching last Tuesday,' from hannahmart21; and the indignant 'THEY made the nice list?' from back2bkly.'

Luca, who Hilary shares with ex-husband, former hockey player Mike Comrie, 37, looked adorable decked out in a blue sweatshirt, dark blue jeans and sneakers with a beanie over his blonde hair.

Dressed in a black T-shirt and figure-hugging leggings, Hilary tied a denim shirt around her waist for her mother-son day out.

Although she probably didn't need it with the temperature hitting an unseasonably high 79F.

The star smoothed her ombre tresses back into a ponytail and covered her eyes with oversized sunglasses as she hunted in her black Chanel purse for something.

Hilary was carrying a brown paper bag so it was possible she was doing some Christmas shopping.

The former Disney star is certainly having a happy holiday season as she is back with her on-off-on again rocker beau Matthew Koma, 30.

The couple parted ways in March after a three-month fling, but were spotted back together at her 30th birthday bash on September 28.

Chatting to the ladies of The Talk on Tuesday, Hilary dished: 'Timing is such a big deal.

'It's going so great! I mean, this is like the third time that we've dated. Third time's a charm!'
