'At the time I thought I was really feeling all of these emotions. I cried for hours after I watched it...I was so embarrassed' she said.

She added: 'Then i kept having to watch it. And I was like: 'OK - this is all right.' mainly, the thing i took from it was the reactions of little kids. how little girls watched it was far more important to me.'

Having starred in a handful of short films, as well as television fare such as Casualty, The Force Awakens was Daisy's first major big screen role and a positive critical reception to her turn has propelled her even further into the stratosphere.

Aside from the Last Jedi, 2017 has seen Daisy star in the  Kenneth Branagh remake of the Agatha Christie classic murder Murder on the Orient Express.

She will also soon be seen starring alongside Australian actress Naomi Watts in Ophelia, a re-imagining of Shakespeare's Hamlet
