And Laura Dern certainly commanded attention at the world premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi on Saturday night.

The gorgeous 50-year-old looked out of this world in a daring sheer black lace dress that showcased her killer figure as she attended the event with her two children, Ellery, 16, and Jaya, 13.

Last night marked the world premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi Saturday at the famed Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

While Daisy Ridley wore Monse, Lupita Nyong'o wore Halpern and Gwendoline Christie wore Gucci, Laura Dern opted for a dress from the archives of Vivienne Westwood's Couture collection.

The off the shoulder number boasted a thigh-high split that revealed a matching pair of knee-high boots.

The screen siren's resplendent soft ringlets were back to her natural blonde, rather than Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo's purple do.

Despite being a newcomer to the Star Wars universe, the actress was delighted to see her character had already picked up a number of fans. 

'I see a few people with purple hair!' she told an interviewer on the red carpet.

And while she was surrounded by Star Wars luminaries, it appeared the droids were the ones she was looking for.

'I love BB8!' she squealed, admitting that 'getting to meet R2-D2 in person was one of the highlights of working on the film.

'It's like being seven-years-old again,' she said. 'We are all the age we were when when we first saw Star Wars.'

'I was talking about my inability to be social normal when I meet people, I was so embarrassed,' she recalled. 

'Normally she would have called security, but she was with her daughter, she thought it was cool.'
