But fast-forward 18 months and Janet Jackson painted a very different picture as she appeared to be enjoying the best of both worlds on Saturday, hanging out with her 11-month old tot, Eissa, on Miami Beach ahead of a show in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The 51-year-old singing sensation reveled in a sun-soaked afternoon with her son ahead of one of the comeback dates on her State of the World Tour 2017.

Eissa - who Janet shares with her now estranged husband Wissam Al Mana - looked adorable in a T-shirt that read 'Equality', while the music icon ensured his head was protected from the sun beneath a baseball cap.

Janet appeared to colour coordinate their styles as both she and her little one rocked all black looks.

The first-time mother appeared to be enjoying every second of motherhood, with Janet tenderly holding on to Eissa and frequently adjusting his cap.

Meanwhile, it was recently claimed that Janet has rebuilt her relationship with her ex Jermaine Dupri.

The Together Again singer underwent a difficult split from husband Wissam Al Mana in April this year, and has turned to the hip-hop star for comfort and support.

A source told E! News that she and Jermaine are, 'consistently in contact,' and are, 'getting close again.'

Janet, 51, and record producer Jermaine, 45, dated for seven years until their split in 2009.

Janet is said to be seeking full custody of her son, after her brother Randy accused Wissam of being verbally abusive to her during their relationship.

'It was quite an abusive situation,' Randy, 61, claimed.
