Life's a beach! Thor star Chris Hemsworth is GIFTED a stretch of Byron Bay coastline as the local council restricts parking in the area... and the local community are up in arms about it

He's the hunky Australian A-lister who swapped an idyllic Malibu pad for a tranquil multi-million dollar Byron Bay property in 2014.

And it seems that Chris Hemsworth has found himself in the middle of a local council furore after the Thor star was, in essence, gifted a beach.

The Daily Telegraph reported that Chris and approximately 30 residents of Byron Bay's Broken Head have been given exclusive access to a stretch of coastline after the council placed a ban on parking.

The publication reported that Byron Bay Council has erected no parking signs from white's Beach to Seven Mile Beach as well as strategically placing large rocks to prevent anyone from parking.

It was claimed that the decision to restrict parking to the area was due to illegal camping.

Local Joey Mason echoed community sentiment, telling the publication: 'now we can't even park here and they [the residents] want to turn it into a gated community,' he said. 'The residents want a piece of paradise for themselves and don't want to share.

He added: 'None of the community were asked. It's like privatisation of a public road and public beach.'

Byron Bay Council's director of sustainable environment Shannon Burt said that the measures were introduced to 'address concerns raised about illegal parking, unauthorised camping and other anti-social behaviour such as littering and camp fires.'

Chris reportedly forked out an eye watering $7 million for his sprawling 4.2 hectare estate in 2014.

He shares the property with wife Elsa Pataky, twin sons Tristan and Sasha, and daughter India.

Speaking to news.com.au Elsa revealed that a major decision behind the move from Malibu to Byron Bay was to escape prying eyes of the paparazzi.

'We couldn't take it anymore,' Elsa said. 'In LA, my kids had a camera in front of them all the time and it made my daughter become very scared of photos. She didn't want pictures taken and didn't want to be in photo'
