He received a sea of support from fans after the passing of his mum Johannah last year, performing in the X Factor final just days after her death from leukemia.
And Louis Tomlinson paid tribute to his 'best friend' in a poignant tweet on Thursday, on the one year anniversary of her death.
The 25-year-old tweeted a simple post in honour of his mum, with his sister Lottie also sharing a touching Instagram post.

Louis simple tweeted: 'Love you. Always' followed by a kiss on the anniversary of Johannah's passing, with The Mirror reporting the star also shared a heart-felt Facebook post in honour of his mum.
The former One Direction star reportedly wrote: 'A year has gone by since I lost my best friend.
'Always in my thoughts and forever in my heart. Love you. Always x.'

Following suit, Louis' sister Lottie also shared a tribute to Johannah on Instagram, posting a gallery of selfies of her mum.
She captioned the post: '1 year today. We were meant to have forever together but even that wouldn’t have been long enough. Thank you for being my angel in the sky and showing me how it feels to have been loved by you.'
Louis received an army of support from fans last year after he took to the stage at the X Factor final just days after his mother's passing to perform his new single.
Performing Just Hold On, his new track with Steve Aoki, the star fought back tears after the performance, before thanking his fans on Twitter for their outpouring of support.

After receiving a standing ovation from the judging panel, Simon Cowell also paid tribute to Louis' late mum, saying: 'Louis, I have to say I've known you for six years. The bravery of what you've done.
'I respect you as an artist, as a person and your mum was so proud of you and she was so excited for the performance. She's looking down on you tonight.'
Following the performance, Louis took to Twitter to thank his millions of fans for their outpouring of support, writing: 'Feeling so much love around me and my family. Mum would have been so f**ing proud ( sorry for swearing mum ) love you !...
'That was harder than I ever imagined. I want to thank everyone around me and all of the amazing fans out there that made that so special!'
He also thanked his collaborator Steve, writing: 'Also @steveaoki , you have been such a rock and inspiration throughout this ! Pure talent and a real gent!'
