The Murder On The Orient Express star said she was left 'shell shocked' after she posted a snap of herself at the Teen Choice Awards and was instantly targeted by some of her Instagram followers over her size.
It was a particularly tough pill to swallow given that Daisy had always been candid about her battle with endometriosis and acne.
She said: '[After the Teen Choice Awards post] suddenly people were not very nice. I had put on weight after finishing filming, and I thought, why do I have to be slender to have the views I have?'
In a recent interview with the Radio Times, Daisy slammed social media for being damaging to teenager's mental health.
'I don't do social anymore. I came off it last September and I will never get back on.
'The more I read about teenage anxiety, the more I think it's highly unhealthy for people's mental health.'
