'For $360 they had better Facetune my photos after too!': Make-up gurus blast Kylie Jenner's new 'luxury' brushes, slamming her sky-high price tag and 'dumbfounding' use of 'animal hair'

  • Kylie, 20, posted a photo of her 'luxury' make-up brushes on Instagram on Friday
  • The beauty guru later took to Twitter to break down the cost, referencing the price of MAC and Kevyn Aucoin brush sets as a comparison
  • Make-up artist and CoverGirl spokesperson James Charles has hit since out at the price and materials used, which include goat hair
  • Cosmetics brand Spectrum Collection and beauty guru Jeffree Star also waded in, with Jeffree telling Twitter followers he is 'dumbfounded' by the product

Kylie Jenner launched her cosmetic line nearly two years ago, amassing a $420 million fortune in the process.

And now the 20-year-old is hoping to further capitalize on her global stardom and beauty industry success with the release of a new 'luxury' line of make-up brushes which are set to retail for a whopping $360.

This pricey sum has not gone down well with Kylie's fellow beauty industry favorites, however, with several make-up artists and cosmetics brands speaking out to express their horror and disbelief and the price of brushes - and the materials used to make them.

Kylie first teased fans with a glimpse of her new line on her Kylie Cosmetic Instagram account on Friday and later took to Twitter to break down the cost and quality of the new items after fans began attacking the sky-high price of the products.

'I have developed for you guys the most amazing luxury brushes ever,' she wrote.

'I am very excited! Real brushes don’t compare to synthetic brushes. Different performance/quality/everything.'

The reality star continued: 'I am 100% down to do an entire synthetic line in the future which will ultimately be cheaper.'

Despite her explanation however, many of her beauty industry peers have since spoken out to critique the range, with social media sensation-turned-CoverGirl spokesperson James Charles leading the charge with a tweet about the cost of the brushes.

'I love Kylie but what the f**k??' he wrote. 'For $360 these brushes better do my make-up for me and Facetune my photos after too.'

And not one to shy away from controversy, beauty guru Jeffree Star also aired his grievances, stating that both the price, and inclusion of 'animal hair', in the range had left him 'dumbfounded'.

Cosmetics brand Spectrum Collections also voiced its concerns, stating that although it supports 'women in business', they always 'put ourselves in our customers shoes' when deciding on price, and concluded that $360 was too much for fans.

And the fans haven't been shy either - one fan said: 'So I’ve decided this brush set is ridiculous and I haven’t even spent $350 on all my make-up together.'

One even told Kylie they would spend it on 'more important' things: 'Thanks but I’ll buy food with that money instead.'

As the youngest Kardashian-Jenner received major backlash, she then screenshot different make-up brush sets online that were around the same asking price as hers.

Kylie said: 'I always fight for the lowest price on all my products. Here are some other real brush lines for reference.'

Along with her statement she posted brush sets from MAC Cosmetics, Net-A-Porter, and Kevyn Aucoin.

But although Kylie did her best to explain where she was coming from, some fans still were not happy.

One person wrote: 'Okay but you’re make-up line does not hold rank like Kevyn auction or morphe.. idk why you think you’re up there... cause you’re not there yet honey.'

Another said: 'I get your point Kylie but all of these brands are extremely credible in the make up industry. You literally only came out with a little bit of brushes before and now you wanna drop this? Uh- uh doesn’t work that way.'

Some Kylie fans seemed delighted that the beauty guru was so open to feedback.

One fan gushed: 'Thanks for listening to your fans feedback. Really shows that you're truly invested in not only your brand, but your customers as well. Much love.'

Meanwhile, Kylie has been busy with her new Kylie Truck-which is a vehicle that sells Kylie cosmetics and merchandise.

The 20-year-old's branded vehicle will make an appearance at the Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills on Sunday.

The showstopping truck has been painted pink and silver in Kylie's signature Kylie Cosmetics drip motif.
