Rey of light! Daisy Ridley dazzles in slashed space-themed sequin gown as she turns heads at Star Wars: The Last Jedi world premiere

The trailers make it look like she might take a dark turn.

But Daisy Ridley was a radiant light on the red carpet at the Star Wars The Last Jedi world premiere in Hollywood on Saturday night.

The 25-year-old looked magnificent in a black and white floor-length sequinned gown adorned with stars.

The skirt of the dress was slashed into tassels, which the gorgeous actress showed off with a twirl on the red carpet.

She pinned her brunette tresses up for the night, finishing her out of this world look with silver nail polish.

The English-born beauty spent lots of time walking up and down the red carpet, posing for pictures and signing autographs for the enraptured fans.

Chatting on the carpet, she drew parallels with her own character and that of her favourite childhood film, Matilda.

Shine on like Daisy in a sequin gown

Daisy Ridley really did look out of this world in her stunning star print sequin gown at the world premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The 25-year-old actress wore a dazzling Monse dress which featured slashed tassels that she showed off to full effect with a little twirl.

This dress carries all the boldness and individuality we love from the fashion house, sadly it's not available to buy for us non-red carpet people but you can shop the current collection over on the right.

A sequin gown is a great way to dazzle so why not check out our edit below for your next special occasion? This Karl Lagerfeld dress at Dillards is our favorite.

'She's yet yet to master the trick of making things float, like a water jug,' she laughed.

'She was like six, imagine her as an adult!' she said joking that Mark Hamill might make a good teacher for Roald Dahl's obviously Force-sensitive protagonist.

She also spoke about fangirling when she first met co-Laura Dern for the first, singing her name in John Williams' Jurassic Park theme.

'I was talking about my inability to be social normal when I meet people, I was so embarrassed,' she recalled.

'Normally she would have called security, but she was with he daughter, she thought it was cool.'

Daisy also posed with her co-star and on-screen mentor — for some time at least — Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker.

The 66-year-old promised that his role in The Last Jedi was 'at least twice as big' as his part in The Force Awakens.

'I do more than rotate and remove my hood,' he promised.

Asked to reveal something about the super-secretive movie, he replied: 'It's the longest one.'

'But it doesn't feel long,' he added, comparing the 152minutes it to the lengthy The Godfather, which left him stunned by — and oblivious to — the running length.

'It keeps the audience engaged,' he insisted. 'I think the run time is warranted.'

Hamill also praised the fans of the franchise, many of whom had once again turned out en masse to witness the premiere.

'They're just amazing, so kind and passionate, they support you through thick and thin,' he said 'Their enthusiasm is so infectious.

These incredible stories have moved them, inspired them, got them through tough times, like illnesses... it's amazing.'

One person who almost missed the premiere was John Boyega, who plays ex-Stormtrooper Finn, having had his flight from Atlanta delayed due to snowy weather.

'I almost didn't make it.' He said. 'Luckily, Poe Dameron is the best pilot in the galaxy.'

Incidentally Oscar Isaac, who plays the X-Wing pilot, was the most noticeable absentee from the screening.

Boyega's earlier tweets prompted a flurry of Star Wars jokes and memes online, including one from a fan who suggested Harrison Ford fly him to the premiere.

Finn finished The Force Awakens in a coma, having been on the receiving end of a Kylo Ren lightsaber beating.

'Finn got destroyed in the last film, so he has to decide which side he's fighting on,' he said. 'But whichever it is he will be pretty bad ass.'

His rival Gwendoline Christie, who plays the imposing Captain Phasma, gave a nod to her character's shiny chrome armor when she arrived on the red carpet in a shimmering silver gown.

'I think shes in a bad mood,' the actress said of her character, adding it took 'a considerable amount of time to remove the smell' after she was dropped into the trash compactor at the climax of TFA.
