On top of the world! Paul McCartney, 75, becomes first Beatle to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge... after Kylie Minogue and others praise his first Australian performance in 24 years

Sir Paul McCartney has become the first Beatle to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The rock legend's effort on Wednesday afternoon local time was made all the more impressive given his 75-years of age.

More impressive still was the fact he managed the 2-hour climb to the top after going all-out for an epic three-hour concert on Monday night.

In Wednesday's snap, Sir Paul flashed a peace sign as he posed from a viewpoint overlooking the Sydney Opera House.

Despite the tiring climb, he looked full of energy and ready for the climb back down.

Sadly he had no say over the outfit choice, seen sporting the mandatory grey jumpsuit supplied by his climb team.

He was at his dapper best two nights prior, stunning a star-studded Qudos Bank Arena crowd during a three-hour rock and roll masterclass.

It had been almost 25 years since the music legend had last performed in Sydney.

Celebrities and life-long fans alike united on Monday, left awestruck by the rousing set, which traversed the best songs from his entire back catalogue.

Among the crowd was Australia's Queen of Pop Kylie Minogue, who posted a cosy Instagram photo with the 75-year-old ahead of his show.

Fans in Sydney were treated to a number of classics from the two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee including Can't Buy Me Love, Jet and I've Got A Feeling.

Sadly, The Daily Telegraph reports this may be the 21-time Grammy Award winner's last tour Down Under given how infrequently he is able to make the long journey down to the Southern Hemsiphere.
